Turned up at the match today at just gone 3 only for some security jobsworth to ask me what my postcode was!?!
-DH1 i replied.
-DH1? Where in Lancaster is that, that's not Lancaster?
-It's not it's in Durham.
-You're not Morecambe fans then are you? You can't come in.
-I've got a Morecambe shirt on under my coat, you need to see it?
-Yes
(show shirt)
-Fair enough, in you go. You're lucky. If you'd not been wearing that I'd not have let you in.
Thought this was just a wind up, but no, he was actually being serious. What a fucking shambles! Any other people who have to travel from outside of Morecambe to go and support the team getting this hassle when they go to the ground?

I arrived late today, walked down the far end of car park, one turnstile open(for main stand entry),asked if I could be let in to North Stand, and was told no problem. Common sense wins the day.

To be fair it hasn't happened to me before but this guy seemed to be in charge of things when in the ground. I don't really appreciate driving nearly 100 miles only to be told I might not be allowed in. Some thanks that is for travelling and turning up to watch your team. It was only pure chance I had my MFC shirt on, it wasn't specifically on for the match.

A bloke called Nigel gained free admission today by buying a dozen eggs at the spar shop, and saying he had been sent to buy them for the burger man!!!

Good idea if it works... but I think he'll find it's likely to get poached!

Surely this is all just a way of making sure Aspers doesn't turn up and jinx us again.

I've heard that the guy who pulled off this stunt may have even been our
drummer at one point......I'll get my coat.
Anyway, I've never been asked to supply a postcode to get into the ground....you must have looked especially thuggish, were you wearing a burberry (Sp?) cap
Technically if you had an LA1 postcode, shouldn't you also be refused entry as you may be a Lancaster City fan???

How utterly ridiculous. I'd've had no chance with my NE15 postcode!

Durham & Marky, why don't you two get together and arrange transport? One drive one home game, other the next?

If you've a problem then maybe you should talk to somebody at the club about it.
Stewards both in and out of the ground are only acting on instructions given to them by a club official. This would appear to be the first time it has happened. I could be wrong but there was a new steward on duty outside of the ground. It's quite possible that he could have misunderstood his instructions.
Be thankful that there are stewards. I can still recall not so long ago when visiting trouble makers got into the home end and had a minor spat with some home fans.

I take the point of the starter of this thread - when we played Bratfud last season loads of them came without tickets and then were asked their postcodes when they reached the turnstiles - they were of course refused entry.
On the other hand a few Darlington fans (one wearing a Darlo baseball hat) gained entry to the North stand without a problem then started giving it large (last season). This has happened before when away fans have tried to and succesfully duped the stewards, who on many an occasion I inform them of the possible infiltrators when I follow them down from the York.
On this occasion a DH postcode is nowhere near a Welsh one and he should have been allowed in
