Just a few strange results

Really really poor. Got to be winning these. Poor defending for the first one and not enough quality to get the win. Would’ve at least brought someone on, but I trust Derek to do the right thing.

Having said that, John’o, Toums and Stockton did very well. Would be nice to see Carlos get back on the scoresheet.

Frustrating evening. Southend didn't look too bad, certainly not like a relegation threatened side. But equally, we never really tested them. Two shots on target speaks volumes. A point was fair result, but it is too tight for us to be dropping points against the 'weaker' sides.

Shame that yesterday was better for us than this evening!

We really should be winning these games though admittedly they are in a scrap for survival. Awful 1st half but better in the 2nd another point gained but we really should be getting 3!

Bet clubs were saying the same thing last season when they lost too us

Poor. Barely created anything against a stubborn side. These are the kind of games you have to win to go up.

Cheltenham didn't beat Grimsby yesterday so does that mean they won't go up

Frustrating night. Not a disastrous performances, but not really at the races against a Southend side who did a good job of being solid and not giving us much in their box. Tricky as a lot of our good attacking play comes from breaking quickly and exploiting space.

Think I would possibly question DA's decision not to bring on some fresh legs. We started the second half excellently, scored, then had a 5/10 minute spell when we kept at them and had them on the ropes. Then we just slackened our grip a little, they got up the pitch a bit and we never really got our intensity back.

Main mentions today for Stockton due to his absolutely magnificent volley - what a way to bounce back from a penalty miss - and O'Sullivan, who had one of his rampaging performances.

Very good point there! Southend aren't just going to roll over, they will fight and like today put up a stubborn performance. Cheltenham found the same against Grimsby.

A game I felt that we should have won, but as I posted earlier, we have done the same to 'top' teams when we were fighting to stay in the league. They played better than their position suggests.
Even though the team were giving their all, it could have done with a couple of changes late on to give Southend something to think about, and maybe disrupt their gameplan. Frustrated but another point towards playoffs or indeed automatic promotion, who would have thought that this was possible.

Frustrating is how i'd describe that, but as others have said, we have no divine right to win games. I'd of brought Price and Macca on, but it's an extra point. Onto Saturday where we will have Yann back and Port Vale can't keep winning games surely?
