Really excited about this potential signing.

Wonder if Joe L has had a quite word and said 'It's good up North'....?????

To pick us over other clubs shows the guy has got some sence as well as class.

Shrimps vice-chairman Graham Hodgson told BBC Radio Lancashire: "We rejected a number of offers before we finally got to a position where it was right."

Howe spent four months on loan at Rochdale last term scoring nine goals.

Hodgson said: "Rene Howe's a natural goalscorer and a good footballer - his record at Rochdale was pretty good. [Manager] Sammy McIlroy has been watching him for a while.

He's 6ft 1in and a big centre-forward and gives us something different - he's what you might call an old-fashioned target man and someone others can play off - it'll be interesting to see how he settles into the squad when he joins us on Thursday."

... and then, of course, we'd have gone for Muzzy Izzet, Billy Dodds and Michael McIndoe

for a forward line of

wait for it

Altogether now

Howe, Mutch, Izzet, Doddsy and McIndoe

Genius Glen!

Maybe a speculative 5 in midfield might be:

Antonio Alvarez Perez (Ito)
Chris Hope
Teddy Sherringham
Lee Dodgson
Mikel Forsell

Giving us:

Ito, Hope, Ted, Dodgy, Forsell.

I'll get my coat!

I hope last season was a one off,i saw him at Rochdale, where he was not even in the first three starting line up,and did not give the impression of a goal scorer, and was knocked off the ball far to easily for my liking, but as i say,it could just have been one of those seasons where injury and things played a big part, lets hope a change of club and manager will bring out the best in him,and he goes on to play a big part in a very important season for Morecambe .A play off position should not be beyond them this season, certain top ten.
good luck to all at Christie Park

Why?

Ever thought that he's spoken to Joe and took his advice.

Remember Joe took the advice of Sammy before agreeing to move to 'boro.
So it's possible that Rene obviously respects our management team and probably thinks of the benefit of working alongside a team that has been recommended.

His record at Rochdale suggests the complete opposite..

I read that one week he looks like a world beater and the next he looks a bit lazy and not intrested. Even if that is true that doesn't bother me in the slightest all players at this level are inconsistent.
Look at Thommo & Baker they had their off days. If a player does find consistancy which you hope Sammy & Mark will coach into them like they did with Thommo they will soon be off and up the leagues.

Howe's a good player - lets' see how he performs as a regular first choice striker at a club where he knows he's going to be settled for at least a year.

On the 'funny combinations of players' names topic' - I used to get the daily papers in the late 1990s, turning to the sports pages just hoping that Liverpool had signed that Youseff Chippo from Coventry.

If they had, they'd have been able to field a very tasty midfield of:

Hamman, Heggem, Berger and Chippo!

********

Spurs, in the past, have had:

Keller Miller Villa

Naylor, Neighbour, Naybet

Crookes, Cook, Crooke, Brooke

Hoddle, Waddle, Dick and Pratt

Err why? You have no idea which other clubs and what agreements have been discussed/agreed. He scored 9 in 20 appearances for Rochdale and assisted them into the play-offs. Not a bad goal average in my eyes. Also we have the coaching/management skills of Sammy+Mark we are highly thought of at this level, therefore he might, just might come out of this a far better player or at least better thought of if he scores regularly and subsequently either go into Peterborough's first team selection or receive offers from other clubs. Its up to the lad now to prove his ability and I reckon Morecambe will be good grounding for him (as he is only 21) and we could come out of this very well. Fingers crossed! Have faith in Sammy :!:
ps
From what I can gather he has signed :D but not yet been officially unveiled
