Sad news but with infections continuing to fall surely Tier 2 must be possible in the next revue?

The fact that Lancaster is part of an NHS trust along with Kendal and barrow is not necessarily relevant. Lancaster takes patients from a large area and for certain specialisms relies on Preston or Blackpool and vice versa. During times of high demand patients may be diverted from their normal hospital to other local ones regardless of Trust, for example from Preston to Lancaster. I would expect that county councillors would use the demand on the hospitals in their region as a defining factor. This was certainly the case last time when they asked for the whole county to be put under restrictions. Even though NHS trusts cross county boundaries Lancs CC obviously have no influence on areas outside of their jurisdiction.

It's a little bit more relevant than which local authority collects our bins though, don't you think?

You’ve been listening to RRW too much. Imagine if Barrow were in higher tier and we got lumped in with them solely on the basis of an NHS Trust.

It would make more sense than Hyndburn - isn't that the point?

Nothing to do with hyndburn. However everything to do with Preston being right next to us is. Read what I wrote originally.

The point is the fact that Lancaster is part of an NHS Trust along with Kendal and Barrow should actually be a little bit more relevant than the fact some people might be transferred to Preston for medical care.

I'm arguing that the local area authority shouldn't be the only consideration when determining local restrictions. If the whole point of these local restrictions is to manage local infection rates by containing the local spread of the virus to protect the NHS, then I think its an entirely reasonable and relevant argument to highlight how our local NHS system is actually arranged and functions operationally on a day to day basis. Surely this should be factored into decison making process ahead of political boundaries or the provision of other centralised services?

At the start of the pandemic, Westmorland General (South Lakeland/Kendal) did not treat COVID-19 patients, they were transferred to either Lancaster Royal Infirmary or Furness General (Barrow) along with hospital staff. This is a clear example of the Trust managing its own available resources to cope with the infection. IMO this demonstrates the fact that Lancaster being part of Lancashire County Council is mostly inconsequential to the management of our NHS services during the pandemic, although this is seemingly the only consideration when placing the district into tier restrictions.

Not that we can do anything about it, but this is a real advantage for the home team, although it didn't seem to help Charlton too much

One thing concerns me - why do we have to sanitize our balls?

I was about to ask the same question but without the obvious innuendo, that I'd completely missed!

What is that ball sanitising about? Surely short of licking the ball, there is zero risk? Some games, the ball has gone out of play and the players had to use a 'clean' ball, other times, they don't. Very odd, and I genuinely can't think of any logic behind this?

Great news for fans, although with the two week quarantine for anyone arriving [back] on the Isle of Man, I think it will be a while before I can think about going. Still, it will be fantastic seeing fans back in the ground.

All sounds very promising. 1500 capacity will probably just about cover demand too. Fingers crossed for tier 2 :)

Fingers and toes crossed that we can get back to watching the lads ASAP. The test event that the club are talking about would be the Boxing Day game at the earliest. Not ideal but hey better than nothing and a way forward out of the gloom....hopefully.

Cat Smith MP has decided to withdraw her support for the area dropping down to tier 2 despite campaigning for it a couple of weeks ago. Unreal.

Radio Lancashire reported figures are rising around the Morecambe & Lancaster area.

And with Xmas and the combination of younger people mixing with older people they must think it's not worth risking it going into the New Year.

Yes, even tier 3 hasn't worked properly, can't move for cars and people shopping, Boris is still letting folk have the 5 days of Christmas but basically advising not to do it and have a small, short one :o .

Wales is going into full lockdown on 28th December.

Unreal? Do you mean two weeks further on, things have changed?

What has changed? I pass the testing site in Lancaster countless times a week and it is always empty. How a Labour MP can withdraw her support to help getting people back in to work is beyond me.

Quite right BW. I haven’t checked, but if as the post above is correct, then it was inevitable that the figures would “work,” to correspond with London going into tier 3.
