AFC Fylde's owner who also is the owner of a veterinary supply company in Lytham has taken a number of the AFC Fylde staff onto the pay role of his veterinary company which is certainly a good move for those it applies to.

I think all staff including Jim and Kenny had already been asked to take a 50% cut in pay.

It was reported in the Blackpool Gazette that Fylde players had been furloughed, then the owner said he would top up their 20% if they worked in his pet food packing factory! I didn't think you were allowed to earn money whilst on furlough?

Don't think you are if you are a full time worker. If you are a part time worker you can work on the days you wouldn't normally be working.

If they lived within their means, they'd have to do like the rest of us and use their savings,
Footballers earn more than enough to save but do they?

Doesn't matter if you're f/t or p/t, you can take another job whilst furloughed if your contract of employment allows it.

Trouble with the situation mentioned here is whether the 20% they're being paid for the pet food work is national minimum wage, which they have to be paid by law for the hours spent on pet food. If their "normal" wage is high enough, 20% of it may well be more than NMW, but for lower paid workers, that's unlikely.

They have some work to do if they are to achieve EFL by 2022 as their owner has been aiming for.

3 backroom staff leaving too including the groundsman. 5 other players not renewing their contracts. A major rebuilding needed in a lower league.

It looks like the bubble has really burst at AFC Fylde. While the Oystons were in charge at Blackpool lots of disenchanted fans turned to support Fylde. Now that the Oystons have left Blackpool much of Fylde 's support has evaporated. They don't seem to have any significant fan base. It's not long ago they were Kirkham and Wesham playing at a much lower level and watched by a handful of spectators. The chairman's ambition and money has elevated them rapidly through the leagues but the trouble is, once a chairman loses interest or is unable to finance a club like previously the club will return to where it came from or go under. It looks like Fylde are beginning that downward journey after an abysmal season.

They were really a village team and it was always a pipe-dream to think of them as a Football League team.

A lot of money invested in that main stand and those nice bars. If they drop down the divisions what is the future for their ground ?

Sad times at AFC and I fear for JB's future if they are relegated.

During lockdown Fyldes owner has been putting two interviews each week onto youtube, explaining what was happening at the club. For some reason he has gone a bit shy now!

Sad to see it not go well for JB down at Fylde. While I certainly felt it was time for a new manager at Morecambe, I really did want things to work out for JB as he is a club legend - that shouldn't be forgotten.

Not sure they have much to fall back on should the owner decided to turn off the tap.

The set-up, facilities and stadium is very similar to Rushden & Diamonds at Nene Park. Their rise has been similar except they have not reached the FL.

When Max Griggs lost interest and pulled out of R&D the dream was over and they slipped through the leagues and all those amazing facilities that some FL teams today would be envious of were demolished and gone.

It all seems a bit pointless to me to develop a club like that if your not 100% committed in the long term. Fleetwood are similar but there owner seems interested long term and has developed the club.

Colne Dynamoes, R&D, Gretna, Fylde , Billericay and many others are all pointless ventures to fuel a hobby a multi-millionaire.

The majority of clubs at all levels lose money , and are subsidised so no one can really point the finger at others on that score , the chairman at Fylde is a good businessman in a sector that is unlikely to be affected by recession , so I would expect Fyldes demise may be unlikely , Fleetwood too are doing very well, I think as a club heavily dependant on the owners financial position , it is us that need to worry a bit at the moment.
