Pitch refurbishment

Pitch refurbishment

Postby redrobo » Thu Apr 16, 2020 9:53 am

I saw a video of Accy's pitch yesterday and it looks like they have taken the shut down as an opportunity to do some work on their pitch in preparation for next season or even the completion of this current campaign.

Just wondered if we are taking similar action so that this enforced halt is not wasted.

Accrington laid new drainage and new turf last close season. Andy Holt loaned the club the money to do it from scratch after trying a few cheaper fixes.

Unless someone donates some grass seed I doubt we can afford it at the moment.

Also will Chesh be furloughed? It will be like a Jungle when he comes back :o

On BBC North West Tonight last night it showed an interview with the Fleetwood owner in front of their pitch which looked to have had a lot of work done on it during this enforced closure.

Does anybody know if we have used this time to do the usual annual summer refurbishment of our playing surface in preparation for when football is resumed as surely it will.....one day.... :?: :?: :?:

As I understand it we started last season with a brand new pitch. Turf does not take long to repair itself with a little care and attention. So with a bit of work the same pitch should be fine for a soccer restart.

In close seasons to date pitches tend to have a top coating of sand and fertilizer. Just wondering if the close down had enabled our pitch to have had such a top coating as every other preseason both at the Globe and at Christie Park.

Would be an ideal time to have the work done on it in readiness for a resumption.....as and when :!: :!: :!:
