125 Million Help to EFL & NL

125 Million Help to EFL & NL

Postby Andy D » Fri Apr 03, 2020 3:03 pm

how’s it’s gonna be split?
The Premier League will also give £125m to the EFL and National League

if it’s an even split, we could expect at least £500.000 and keeps us afloat for another season.

would be good result if you ask me?

I hope you are correct Andy but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s heavily weighted towards the Championship

Surely the money would be made payable to the club, not the owner !

Assuming that this financial move by the Premier League comes to fruition it is far greater in its value than my original post of March 13 had hoped for. However it will be in the detail and distribution as to whether clubs in EFL2 will receive a fair share of the monies available. I hope that the money will be shared equally between the clubs whatever their individual circumstances are. That for me would be a fair and proper distribution of the money.

I actually don't think it would be fair to split the money equally. Bigger teams have bigger overheads and more staff, so are likely to require a bigger bailout. That unfortunately means we'll get scraps. I hate to say it but I suspect they might distribute it 80% Championship, 15% League 1, 5% League 2, or whatever the split is on the TV money.

The owner is the majority shareholder of the Ltd company that everyone generally refers to as the club.

Theoretically you'd expect it to be divided up the same way as the £50 million EFL solidarity payment, and it was stated in the DM article we would get £164,000 from that.

So x3 would equal £492,000. However, we can't know for sure if they'll divide it up in the same way.

Don't forget that they have included the National League this time. :?: :?: :?:

So maybe a bigger pot but more teams to be included.

I assume that the Championship is included so it will be interesting to see what percentage that the National League are given as well as EFL2

I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong but this money via the Premier League is NEW money over and above what is already earmarked for the EFL via the usual payment due to clubs.

My concern is that some owners may see this extra money as an opportunity to claw back monies that they have put into their clubs rather than it being used for a clubs future stability.

I can think of one Northern club who are in serious financial problems where their current owner could benefit from the misappropriation of any additional money.

i’d say it’s to compensate for abandoning(more than likely) this season completely and loss of revenue.

Agreed....and it will be interesting to see how the money is shared out now that the National League are also to be included in its distribution.

This latest batch of money is an ADVANCE. Read the statement from the PFA and it is there clear as day. An advance. It will keep the wolf from the door for now but will leave a gap in the future.

We should give Shanghai Clever a ring. See if they remember us.

I hope we have been able to at least "furlough" staff during these hard times. After all, if the Champions of Europe can do it why can't we? These PL clubs have some cheek.

Matlock Town have started a crowd funding page to bring in much needed funds. They are looking to raise £15k to help stay in business.
