United / Salford connection at work....

Thankfully we've got a ready made replacement in Cooney who looked good in the game I saw him.

Maybe DA knew what was on the cards and acted quickly....if so, well done sir :D :D :D

Surely Salford must be breaking salary cap rules for league two

good shout that!

although Salford could increase their support with Man Utd’s power slowly diminishing.

Is the salary cap done on turnover? In which case they invest a load of money at the start of the season and there is their income/turnover for the year.

So Man.Ure. agree to Tanner coming to us for a season long loan, then half way through they decide to cancel the agreement and loan him elsewhere? I could understand it if they were going to sell him to another club but just to swop loan clubs is pathetic. Shows what a bit of influence will do!

m1, no hat, must have been a premonition ;) :D

Money talks once again? Rumour was that the lad was happy here and wanted to stay.
Quality from day one, and Mr Consistent. We are lesser without him in the squad for sure.
Good luck to him, on his way up.

Surely owners' investment/loans won't be counted as sales/turnover?

I am sure directors' loans aren't counted as turnover but I had a notion that share issue receipts were counted. Could be wrong on that though.

Kieron Mcguire has been looking in to Salford and FFP. Chesterfield have just announced losses of 35kp/w and he reckons Salford will dwarf that.

Tickles me. The Luton chief executive before Xmas was complaining they don’t stand a chance in the Championship against teams who get 25,000 every home game and are bankrolled with big wages??
So it’s Ok for Luton to do the same in League 2 on crowds of 10,000 and big wages, but not fair when they reach their ceiling? Idiot.

George has been a superb signing, but the pull of Salford with their ManU connection, 7 millionaires in charge and money to burn, he stands a better chance of getting a contract with them, however I’m not sure it guarantees him a start, but what do we know?
Rumour was he was happy with us, but as in all forms of football, money talks!!
Good luck to the lad, he’s done all he could. However we move on, and hopefully up.

Man Utd rapidly becoming a joke club! They'll still tell you that they're the 'biggest' club in the world but on the pitch their first team is currently a soft touch for clubs who have spent a fraction of the monies they have (Burnley anyone) . The ethics of this deal with Tanner absolutely stink! Salford are rapidly becoming as hated as their big city neighbours, if not more. They are every ones cup final now and deserve all the scorn and contempt they are attracting.

UTS.

The whole 'money talks' argument doesn't really wash with this one. He was on loan with us (salaried by Man U and assuming a contribution from us). He's now gone on loan to Salford - still on the same salary, presumably with a slightly higher contribution/fee paid by Salford to get the deal done. I can't see him getting a penny more at the moment than he was whilst with us.

I can only imagine that, with his contract expiring in the summer, he is looking at the possibility of a permanent move to Salford - a bigger wage than we could offer, more chance of climbing the leagues with them, and Man U coaches/scouts still keeping close tabs on him.

Salford are slowly becoming the modern day Colne Dynamoes

They will sign players so others can`t and just throw them in the reserves

They must have the highest paid reserve side in the league.

But D.A. must have some impressive players lined up to be letting Lewis go.

Your last paragraph, reiterates “ money talks,” surely N.

That has to be viewed as the positive in this jbc.s. Exciting times.

Mates favours!
It's a joke the amount of money they're splashing about, championship standard players coming off the bench but still undone by an ex national league striker

Hope they stay down

Tanner not involved again tonight. Since he was taken away from the Shrimps he’s not had a competitive kick. Clever move!
