A dig at us or Carlisle?

A dig at us or Carlisle?

"Barrow AFC manager Ian Evatt has made it clear that any Football League interested in one his players better come up with the right price, ie a big one, if they make any offers.

The Bluebirds have several of their key players tied down to contracts that run beyond the end of the current campaign, including top scorer John Rooney, Scott Quigley, Josh Kay and Dior Angus, who extended his deal last Sunday...

...However, with AFC flying high at the top of the National League, it is not surprising that other clubs have expressed an interest in certain players and made enquiries into signing them.

Evatt said: “I hope they’ve got a lot of money if they’re coming in to bid for one of our players because we ain’t giving them away.

“I don’t how much I should be saying here, but we had a ridiculous, ludicrous, in fact embarrassing, bid for one of our players last week from a club close by that was insulting".

Carlisle, who got Bennett from them I think. Cannot see anyone coming to us as we won’t be paying out much, if anything, we will be in for freebies, surely?

That was my first thought too, but I thought Carlisle were skint too?

They got some cash off Everton, rumoured 500k, for Jarrad Branthwaite, 17 year old centre back, last week!

Managers love to moan about other clubs bidding for their players but I'm sure he's done the same thing plenty of times during his career.

Carlisle made a bid for Rooney that was pathetic by the sounds of it. Barrow do look a decent side this season to be fair. They ripped Jimbo's Fylde team apart on New Years day, could have been 4 or 5.

I remember when we were non-league and had someone useful, along came a FL side and frustratingly they were off because the player wanted to play in the FL.

now the roles are reversed are we picking up someone who wants to play in the FL :?:

Surely Sam is just as good a prospect for a club in the Premiership.... :?: :?: :?:

Would like to think that our Board would demand such a fee from a club who wanted Sam as from what we've seen of Sam to date he's got a good future ahead of him.

The lad who has now gone to Everton scored for Carlisle in the mid week cup game which was DA's first home game a few weeks ago. From memory he didn't look anything special.

Sam's existing contract runs into next season so unless some club comes in for him Sam will be with us for some time.

If some club comes in for him in this transfer window we've got to be talking of at least £500,000 surely ..... :?: :?: :?:

I disagree completely with your assessment of Branthwaite completely. He had only just turned 17 when he scored after intercepting and gunning upfield from the back when a centre back, and in the League he played holding midfield and was calm, assured and won most headers and second balls. He looked a great prospect at just 17, and a big unit too.

No problem....

What sort of a value would others put on Sam.... :?: :?: :?:
