Good memories of Jim

Good memories of Jim

Lots of debate on here and FB about Jim as a manager. For me, it was probably time for a change but I thank him for all he did in keeping us up during some very challenging times.

I think though what is beyond dispute is what a cracking bloke Jim was.

One memory I have was when I volunteered to paint the barriers red during his first season. He came up to us in the bar and individually thanked everyone and insisted we have food and a drink on the house with the players. MD had just been appointed General Manager's and in true scouse banter he was cracking subtle jokes with the players and staff about 'the general janitor?' Que fits of giggles ;)

Another was Dagenham away a good few years ago. We won 2-1 and we headed into an off-licence with the team coach parked outside. As I approached the door it was blocked by the big man with a 24-pack of Carlsberg on his shoulder. He then joked about essential supplies for a safe trip back and jumped on the coach to reward the winning team.

I am sure others have loads of good stories to tell.
