So many different options to transfer music, photos and files etc what would my fellow SVers suggest having done something similar... :?: :?: :?:

Someone suggested transferring everything to an external hard drive, but must be a quicker and more direct way... :?: :?: :?:

Cheers

If you'd taken up the suggestion of Office 365 with OneDrive, it would do it for you ;)

If you have an external drive, use that. If not, you should anyway to have the data stored off the computer in case it fails instantly on you. Same comment applies to the new 10 device.

Alternatively, you need to use your 10 to connect to the 7's hard drive over your home network then copy whatever content you want. It's easy if you know what you're doing, if not then it'll be a longer thread than the Song Game.

Cheers Brian, had a look into getting Office 365 and is available on ebay for circa £5. If that is the full package as it appears seems no reason not to get it.

You get what you pay for and you're paying £5 for a product that costs £60 as a minimum, assuming you're not a student.

Good luck!

You could get an external Hard Drive and make a copy of all your important photos & documents.

Or..

You could wait until you have a Hard Drive fail, come on here and ask if there is any way to recover your photos & documents, be told there basically isn't without spending a small fortune, and even then probably lose some, then get an external Hard Drive and make a copy of all your important photos & documents from then onwards, while lamenting the memories that are gone forever?

It's amazing how many people, despite advice, don't make back-up copies of photos etc until they lose them.

If you are dumping your old PC, you could (should!) take the Hard Drive out and put it in to a caddy, then use it as an external Hard Drive, then copy stuff on to the new computer. Caddies are a few quid.

External HD's are reasonable now. For example, 1TB for about £40
