Break The Gate!

The club are trying to set a new attendance record on Easter Monday. £5 entry for pre purchased tickets. A good idea? Will we break the 4k barrier?

I think it is a great idea. A good performance on the day, and a win obviously( ;) ) and the result could well be a return of fans, old and new. Really hope the good folk of Morecambe+++ get behind it.

Just checked on the OWS and all seats are a fiver and £3 for concessions. On the day tickets will be full price. I hope fellow season ticket holders see the bigger picture.

As a season ticket holder who's just managed to miss the best two home games so far this season, I can assure you I do see the bigger picture. This is a great idea; we just need to keep up the performance of the last two games to make sure people really want to come Easter Monday.

We all hope for this with every game. The only problem I can see is that Easter Monday being a school holiday, a lot of potential support could be away on holiday.

Talking of good deals it looks as though last nights £10 buffet deal was a success. Any chance of it becoming a regular feature...not every game but maybe once a month.... :?: :?: :?:

I would have thought that with the extra bar sales that it was a financial success.

“Break the gate”. If Leeds fans get wind of this they will turn up in bus loads , they will break anything. . Which just made me wonder is the offer valid for away fans too ? . Still nothing on the OWS

Great idea by the club. Just hope it's well promoted. :D

Just bought a row of seven seats in C2. Dragging some family along who haven't been since Christie ;)

Am I making it up or was there not free entry a few years ago (V Hartlepool?) I thought that was the record, although not a sell out. Or was that at CP?

There was free entry if you bought a programme but not sure who it was against

A free game against Dagenham & Redbridge at the Globe six years ago was my family's first visit to MFC. We're now into our third year as season ticket holders. So we weren't overnight converts but the freebie got us through the turnstiles. Sometimes it takes a while to grow a football fan..

Perhaps the club could use this to their advantage? How about (if it is legal to do so?) allow advance tickets to be purchased until 11am on the Monday and work with the Tourist Board to leaflet B&B's etc, so we could get some visiting neutrals too?

Also, perhaps an advert by the Tourist Board in the local paper in Cheltenham, to encourage families to come for an Easter break in the town? It isn't always appreciated how much value the club has to the town, perhaps joined up initiatives would work?

Fantastic iniative.

However, one very simple thing - when anyone buys a ticket get their name, email address and consent to be emailed as an absolute minimum.

If they don’t then it is a waste as those people can never be easily marketed to again.

Mike, I feel like we were having this conversation 15 years ago (Cambridge and Ipswich FA Cup days).

Perhaps a secondary offer of discounted tickets for the following match, available on the day until an hour after the final whistle, surely this would attract repeat business.

Erm......not sure if I’m missing something obvious, but just been on MFC website to buy tickets only to find a message saying “this event is no longer available on line” Anyone shed any light on this?
What would the alternatives be? (I usually pay on the gate!)

There was a freebie some years ago, a rearranged match against Daggers. Weather was awful, Euro soccer was on Sky, and they coralled home supporters into the away end. We came from behind to win that one 2 - 1
