If you are on Twitter or just flick through it casually, You have to follow the Stanley owner. He gives a great insight in to lower League footy and how it is run. Well worth a follow and puts our club to shame to be honest.

Yes it is quite amazing listening/watching him being transparent about his plans and ideas, interacting with fans, even down to his costing per seat of their new stand.
Interesting how he evaluates the income down from the Premier League and how most of us are budgeting with these payments included, when really it is only guaranteed for a short time.

I follow him and you can find quite a lot of information that is of interest.
Compare it with the silence from PMG and the other board members.

Andy Holt has engaged with our fans more than our own board has over the last few months/years. It's refreshing to see a Chairman/Owner be transparent with fans. Whether you agree with him or not on things, you can read his points of view and even engage with him on the subject.

Just and so high enough so the houses can't get a free view.
Clever....

Good point. They were ideal in our old North Stand.

I went to a Michael Calvin talk about his new book with Drew Broughton, Michael Appleton and Andy Holt. Incredibly interesting evening, some really insightful stuff got put out.
Ended up chatting with Andy Holt and Accrington's Managing Director (I think) afterwards. I was really impressed with how much they valued transparency and getting the fans opinion. The Managing Director in particular was very keen to stress how important it is to involve fans in decisions for the club as much as possible. Really refreshing to hear after all the silence we get from our board.
Glad to see the new owners appear to want to be a bit more fan involved though, and the Trust seems to be making good headway in that regard too.

Whereas , our board doesn't seem one bit interested in it's fan base!
Fair play to Accy, wish we had owners like them.

Mr Holt has tweeted an appeal to any local sides asking if Stanley can use their pitch to train on until they get one of their own sorted. They are willing to pay for up keep and maintain the pitch.
I know the club have Turners but people keep saying it holds water etc so could other local pitches be an option? There are plenty about and I am sure the committees could do with the income. Slyne, Trimpell and Westgate all have decent pitches.

The amount of money that's been pumped into the Universities pitches recently, I've not been there for a while but a couple of years back they were like bowling greens.
(Granted in my day they were in the main unplayable bogs mainly but still)

Is the Trust in a position to assist with funding on an ongoing basis?
Any update regarding the ownership of the pitches at the rear of the Globe?
I suggested earlier the possibility of coming to a deal with PNE to use part of their training complex or even that of Blackburn but suspect that finance could be the usual problem.

Pitches - Turners is ok for the moment and has improved massively since I went to School at Morecambe High, but we know it will flood when winter comes around. I've often that the club should share with Westgate Wanderers as a grass training facility - these are to a decent standard (they were paid for by the club as part of the relocation for the new ground anyway) and not utilised in the day (when the club would require them). With hindsight, this perhaps should've been part of the move.
Ownership of PMG Leisure pitches - I understand that the new owners have submitted an offer to purchase, but this does not meet the administrators current expectations. If purchased, the pitches will remain as a separate entity to Morecambe Football Club.Limited. The stated ambition of the new owners is to get the facility back under the control of the club - it is important in terms of the academy, but not the complete solution to the clubs inadequate training facilities due to some players inability to train on synthetic surfaces.

.
It is still open to offers. Whatever value the Administrators may have in their mind, i would presume the 'Club' will have offered a lot less than half as they won't grant access.
I guess it is now a game of poker where the accounts show the Administrators have forked out £15000 on advice in relation to access rights, £1000 on a valuation, £700 on insurance, £800 on advertising and they are charging £35,000 plus VAT remuneration per annum. Any extras are £324 per hour.
They have probably come up against a brick wall with our owners who are specialists in law and property/land sales. Land without access is useless without permission for a helicopter

I've always wondered why this wasn't the case myself to be honest.

The thing is with the Club buying these pitches as soon as we have financial difficulties again, then there just going to be sold off straight away to repay debts surly?
Be nice if in some way the land could be bought and then put inside the Christies Trust then its protected, against people who just buy Football Clubs to then go "Asset Stripping" ??

Decision making on and off the pitch will be be our downfall, first of all you need to find somebody to make one and follow it through!
