O/T Eden North

I know it's not new news, but this is back in the news, along with dear Mr Morris. Hope it starts happening soon; if it lifts the town's economy it could also boost the football club, due to a general increase in the town's prosperity. The increase in tourism will increase jobs, in addition to those temporary jobs created during construction. C'mon Hammond, show us the money and let's get started!

Sorry, forgot to post the link; D'oh!

Pretty sure back at the time when this news first came out he did say its a lengthy process and that its in its early stages and it could be a good 12 months or so before any decisions are made regarding approval only then to take things to the next stage.

So we'll just have to Chill out for the time being.

We've got the Morecambe Missile, now we're getting the Morecambe Mussel. Let's hope it doesn't spoil anyone's view from the private balcony of a nearby theatre

Went shopping for some aspic the other day. Got told there was none to be had anywhere in the EU. Apparently it's all been bought by some voluntary group in Morecambe? ;)

Looks good news for the town. I hope it materialises.

(From the subject field I actually thought Eden North was a player that something noteworthy had happened to :? )

Surely the Labour party would have more money to spend on this than the Tories, ask John McDonnell

Aren't Morecambe & Heysham both just sub districts of Lancaster or have I just imagined it for 55 years of my life? :?
Think I've let the 'Cat' out of the bag

On the BBC news yesterday on about this subject, while going on about Morecambe it was said that Bingo was invented here

Intresting bit of Trivia for some.

Actually not. Morecambe & Heysham has 23 councillors and Lancaster south of the river has only 21. That surely means that Lancaster is an equal partner in the most glorious part of the UK.

Sadly no such thing.

My understanding is that the last of the EU’s ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) and ESF (European Social Fund) is still floating around - about £35 million - at Lancashire County Council. In addition, the Regional Growth Fund given to the LEP (Local Economic Partnership) has over £100 million left in its current funding cycle - again, a fair chunk of it from Europe. As the bloke from Eden explained, any funding of this kind will need to be match funded. So, if £80m, then £40m from the above plus any other government pots. Match funding is the problem. Lancaster City Council will throw in the land for free; Lancaster University will stump up some cash but it won’t be enough and finding say £30m of private money will be a big job. If all goes wrong though i’ll blame David Morris.

P.S. How ironic if leave voting Morecambe’s future is secured by funding from Europe? A delicious irony.

Morecambe has always been a wonderful town and it's getting better and better, my only wish is that the residents would appreciate it more and not take it for granted like they do.
When you're in other towns you soon realize how truly blessed you really are living here

The Chancellor gave £100,000 towards development of the site in yesterdays budget.

Edit....

It was all down to David Morris!

He'll get my Vote everytime while he fights this cause, even if he is out for himself, he's no different to your average Politician.

Yep, I'd rather have an MP who was influential re the big things even if they're not too visible locally. I'd prefer them to be "mingling" with the ministers etc in Westminster rather than sit in Asda talking to passers by or opening school fairs.

I'd rather have someone here, being visible, sorting out the local issues as well as doing their bit in Westminster for their constituency.
You know, like they are supposed to do?? :D
