Why all the doom and gloom?

Seems everyone's on a downer right now. Yeah it's January, the weather's crap, no one's got any dosh. The footie isn't exacltly inspiring. But when i look at the table there are teams worse off than ourselves.

For those that went to Luton their fans, despite their almost seemingly hopeless situation, made a load of noise throughout the game. Their gates are among the highest in this league. They're not throwing the towel in.

A win on saturday would see us up with Chesterfield in mid-table.

Ok so we are missing Danny. But Drummie will soon get back in and McStay is also to return. Taylor will bag a few goals with his bonce if Twissy gets a chance on the left to put some fast crosses in. Hunter is also likely to feature when we need him.

It's not the end of the world. However the players have got to realise we can't start matches so sluggishly. We have to concentrate and compete for 90 mins and this season we always seem to be having moments of madness - especially early on in games.

I also think we need younger players coming through - Gillingham are a young side and their pace showed - it's something i think McIlroy has let slip a bit since he's been here. But to be fair he's given Taylor a go.

Staying up is obviously what this season's about. So there's an incentive for fans to cheer the lads on if people are thinking 'why bother going to Christie'. Every game is still massively important and also we need to keep one eye open on next season.

Yes the sqaud will need an overhaul and the dead wood removing. But for now there is still plenty to play for. Ten years ago we were struggling in the Conference! People should remember that and back the lads and maybe who knows? The transfer embargo might actually galvanise the squad and give one or two a chance.

song for you bryan for the 31st

January, sick and tired, you've been hanging on me
You make me sad with your eyes
You're telling me lies
Don't go, don't go

January, don't be cold, don't be angry to me
You make me sad come and see
Oh January
Don't go, don't go

Life, gets me higher (higher)
I can show, I can blow
I can wake up the world, little world
Gotta know you, gotta show you
Sun, like a fire (fire)
Carry on, don't be gone
Bring me out of my home, sweet home
Gotta know me, gotta show me
You've been facing the world
You've been chasing the world

January, sick and tired, you've been hanging on me
You make me sad with your eyes
You're telling me lies
Don't go, don't go

January, don't be cold, don't be angry to me
You make me sad come and see
Oh January
Don't go, don't go

Time, it's a flier (flier)
Sunny day, fly away
English summers are gone, so long
Gotta go up, gotta blow up
Sun, like a fire (fire)
Carry on, don't be gone
Bring me out of my home, sweet home
Gotta know me, gotta show me
You've been facing the world
You've been chasing the world

January, sick and tired, you've been hanging on me
You make me sad with your eyes
You're telling me lies
Don't go, don't go

January, don't be cold, don't be angry to me
You make me sad come and see
Oh January
Don't go, don't go

spot on the youth point!!!
i believe that is one of the major factors which has contributed to the transfer embago as the squad is made up of 20 odd player who really can or shud be playing every week at different levels given there age, meaning they can demand larger wages. where as with young local lads who have little expirenece can bulk out the squad then wages will be lower. the likes of jarvis ect should not have been released, someone like mccann whos played very few games will be alot larger wages to what jarvis was on. also javis has proved at tiverton what he can do a would have been an exellent squad play. i dont doubt mccanns abiltiy at this level but as a squad player then maybe he isnt suitable when he may only play a handful of games.

proving something at Tiverton is not the same as cutting it at League 2 level though !

Actually that's an interesting one. Would the legend that is Keisuke Takano have succeeded in our problem position on the left (i.e. as a league player)?

yep but if he isnt good enough and doesnt play much at least he isnt taking up as much wage space as others in the squad we have. there are many in the squad who arnt performing but are sitting on significantly larger contracts than youth players would be at the moment.
