Who is Joseph Cala?

I remember Les Taylor trying to get Owen Oyston to buy us! Fortunately for us he wanted a Football League side! One bullet well and truly dodged. :D

Joseph Cala escorted out of Gateshead's ground

Club told to leave their International Stadium

Players not paid for March....

We had a VERY lucky escape.

Further to my post just now ABOVE this one, and from the Gateshead forum:

"I understand that Gateshead Soul are providing pre-match meals for the squad ahead of the Braintree game tomorrow, as Cala doesn't see such expenditure as important. Utter utter b*stard! And if anyone was still in two minds about what kind of creature he is, what kind of club owner would leave fans to provide meals for the players!

Clear off Cala - nobody wants you here. I hope a full investigation is made at the appropriate time as to the level of mismanagement. Just hope and pray we don't get wound up."

There were people here and in the fan base that wanted to give him a chance. Thank Christ he was run out of town.

From the Gateshead forum

"Hopefully this is the turning point, the last time Cala will set foot in GFC and the start of a new era.

Hope any creditors who we still owe money realise that is Cala and Varghese who have conned them, not the good people at GFC."

Be that as it may, there were people championing him and his gang above the long term directors who have put more time in than anyone else.

He came in, slagged off the hospitality, slagged off the pitch, slagged off the players and the management and proudly proclaimed about Lions on the pitch. Tweets of 5 year plans that if you actually bothered to ask what it comprised of and pulled the first thread the whole jumper disintegrated.

End result, people behind Cala's gang.

I just hope that the wider fan base realise this, and when you're next unhappy that we are in lower mid table, you have a look and see how well we are doing, not complaining that we are far from being 1970's Brazil and in the Championship.

Given what I read on here and Facebook, I best not hold my breath.

Let's hope the Oystons don't want another League club now they have been divested from Blackpool :o

Fleetwood lost £4.8 million in the last year that accounts were filed. They wrote off a loan of a similar amount (presumably from Pilley) to balance things up.

Rumours abound about BES which is Pilley's company also not being in good health so maybe something in the Oyston rumour.

I thought Pilley disliked the Oystons? Didn't he originally want to join the board at Blackpool?

An interesting read here about Oyston wanting to get control of Blackpool again and Pilley after them too.

Some Gateshead fans have announced a breakaway club. Not nice to see, this could so easily have been us

There is only one player on a contract at Gateshead and that expires in June.

The Gateshead Soul supporters have a Go Fund Me page to rebuild their club, should anyone wish to express their relief in the form of a donation

Quote from the above link:

“After all the countless lies that have been told, it would be naive to accept anything that comes from Ranjan, Joseph Cala or anyone connected to them as even remotely truthful."

The latest twist in the sorry tale of Cala's ownership. And it's not good. No change there then.

Gateshead have been taken over by a supporter led consortium. Great news for them and great to see Cala and his mob booted out

Agreed, but I hope it’s a different lot to the ones who decided to ignore all the comments on their own forum from Pompey fans and even a Salernitana fan that they would be mad to get Cala on board. Staggering how gullible some people can be in the face of all the evidence.
