John McEnroe was born in West Germany (his dad was in the services) and everyone knows he is American and regards himself as a New Yorker.

Andrew Strauss was born in South Africa but is regarded as a Middlesex man who played for England.

It is where you choose to live that is the place you are from. Tyson Fury is from Morecambe and it is something to be pleased about and the Council should reflect this achievement in some way.

The BBC would love that

Thanks for posting I certainly for one will be voting for him.

If he wins it will be well deserved - has to be the number one sporting achievement of the year for me.

He just needs to keep his feet on the ground and have friends around him, like Edgey RIP did for Sammy Mclroy at Wembley - another magic memorable sporting moment

Did Edgey get that minute of silience in his memory of the service he gave the club he deserved at a home game PAL?

Getting the thread back on the rails as the lunatics at the asylum have escaped and derailed another thread -

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/sports-personality/46352517

Deadline is tomorrow 14 December

This vote will close at 20:00 GMT on 14 December 2018. You may only vote for one option.

Just a follow up Marky no. 1 - your on topic post is a breath of fresh air.

You'd expect a local press and local authority to be promoting a former world heavyweight champion who lives in the town to alert its citizens to this to get some much needed positive publicity for the town would you not?

So whats on these today -

https://www.lancasterguardian.co.uk/
http://www.morecambe.gov.uk/
https://www.lancaster.gov.uk/

I could find nothing :(

Well done anyway Marky no. 1 as the article I posted states hes the PEOPLES champion. Lets see what happens.

Whats the Morecambe & Lunesdale MP to say about Tysons sporting achievement?

Nothing

Its all peaceful on this thread so thankfully the lunatics must be back in the asylum :D

https://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-ra ... atest-odds

One bet I'd be confident placing is that if Tyson wins or gets in the first three MP David Morris will be claiming credit and putting his propaganda on his twitter account, but when it mattered he was silent.

The BBC disrespecting those that voted by not publishing the voting results.

Well done Tyson, did Morecambe proud with his speech and good to see the winner recognise his inspiring achievement. Maybe SPOTY 2019 for the Gypsy King. :D

Tyson has been playing Wheelchair Basketball with the guys from Lancaster Bulldogs. The club are missing a trick not getting him involved in some way.

Missed this first time around.
It is great fun! :D Our club has about ten to fourteen people most weeks, of which, only about four are actual wheelchair users. If the Lancaster Bulldogs are similar, they will welcome non-wheelchair users too if you want to have a go.

There was a good article in yesterdays Sun about Tyson where he says he can't wait to leave the USA to get back to Morecambe.

It has various comparisons such as Caesars Palace / Pleasureland. Grand Canyon / Lake District.
