'tis a sad day when the clubs own official site has to be confirmed by $ky before it's believed

Bugger! I really didn't want it to be off. I missed the Boxing day match and got to see us get beat 4-0 by Bradford instead so was hoping for a decent game tomorrow and 3 points in the bag.

Shame, but a sensible decision. Doubt we'll be the only club in the same situation.

generally it's a bit milder here on the coast so I would think the more inland grounds like Rochdale, Rotherham, Darlington might have problems.

Brentford v chesterfield is off too.

Disappointing but not surprising after so many nights of frost.

Methinks that Brentford v Chesterfield is a victim of the FA Cup which sees Chesterfield playing Ipswich instead.

Dollies game at t'Axe is still on.
Support your local non-league side, who are playing their best footie for years, on a sublime surface conducive to the home side's passing game 8-) .
That's where I'd be anyhow if Shrimps were postponed.

I appreciate that it is not as cold today (Sat) but a decision had to be made early to take into account the travelling team and fans from Lincoln. Surely none of us want to go back to the infamous 2.15.p.m.postponements of the past i.e. home to Shrewsbury in February. What a farce that was!

implying nothing, the game cannot be put back on but it's interesting to read what your first thoughts were after the overnight weather.

..why not make it mid-day.....??????

Lincoln would have travelled late yesterday. The club did the right thing. I'll bet that the area in front of the away end is still frozen and will be at KO time.

Are you really suggesting that we face another Shrewsbury dilema as last season?

Also the club has to pay the opposition travel if the game is called off after their arrival.

WELL DONE MFC IN DOING THE CORRECT AND LOGICAL THING

its a pity for them that they had to drop several divisions to play their best footie for years!

I think in hindsight the wrong decision was made. Yes it had been cold but in the last 24 hours it has got considerably milder. Yesterday's weather forecasts were still predicting a cold night but it ended up being pretty mild. Today seems like perfect footy weather and I am sure the pitch is now completely playable.

Pitch inspectors should have said 'lets wait and see' if it was touch and go and had another one in the morning before calling it off. If we were playing a 3rd round tie instead I am sure that would have been the case.

Playing the game on a Tuesday night means we will probably lose 3-400 fans on the gate and the welcome money we would of got from a potentially decent crowd.

Maybe I am miffed because I ain't got much else to do today!

It's costing me a new fridge/freezer  Thought I could put it off going to the match but no excuse now. Spotted one on hotukdeals, £500 down to £300, but within seconds of it appearing it went out of stock

Just got back from a run and although there wasn't a frost or ice on cars this morning the air still fells pretty cold and the ground is frozen solid, as too is the Canal!

That bit in front of the Away end will most probably be very hard.

I think the club made the right decision to have an inspection yesterday and get it postponed well in advance considering the cost implications involved if we'd have gotten into a situation like Shrewsbury last year.

At the end of the day, a Professional football club, going off information from the met office and with the experience of groundsmen who have worked with that pitch for many years are much better informed than a photograPher, a butcher, a baker or a candlestick maker! ;)
