No wonder Posh wanted Joe Lewis

Not only because he's one of the hottest young goalkeeping prospects around, they also knew that by breaking the bank to get him (always thought we should have done the same and said so at the time) they stood to cash in and make Millions

Sir Alex Ferguson is trying to tempt his son Darren into making a quick profit by selling his Peterborough goalkeeper Joe Lewis for £3million.

and there's someone getting on their high horse about missing out on a few grand from Perks leaving Rochdale

Why doesn't this suprise me?

If only we could have got 4 investors @ £100K each, they would have made a killing in due course.
;) ;) ;) ;)

When there's only the likes of Paul Robinson on offer in the Premiership it pays to cast out your net a bit further and catch a rising star who could turn out to be England’s no1 sooner rather than later and all for a measly £3 million

Its been said countless times, we should DEFINITELY have signed Joe Lewis. Look at the profits Peterborough are looking at! £400,000 to £3million in 6 months. Hmmm.

Barry Fry said a few weeks ago that they won't let him go for less than £6million

If we'd offered £400,000 would Peterborough have offered £450,000? We couldn't compete with their spending power. Would his profile have been as high if he'd stayed with us? Perhaps. But if not, we'd have the most expensive goal keeper in Division Two. So while we may have had the best keeper, we'd not have had any money for any other players.

I'd have loved Joe to have stayed with us but the club and management rightly decided what we could afford to pay for him and stuck with it. If you want to see what happens when clubs take a gamble rather than stick to their business plan, have a chat with Luton fans.

We did what we could... good luck to the lad. Hopefully one day we'll be mentioned as the club that saved an England keepers career. And anyway, if anyone is going to feel sick about Joe, it should be Norwich fans!

I think they'll be few people closer to home that i'll be kicking themselves for not taking the chance (or was it a chance in reality???) on paying out whatever to get Joe knowing full well it was a cert that his value would soar in a very short time and a very tidy profit would have been made.
Peterborough stand to make a fortune and all because they took that chance!

that's like saying I'll be kicking myself tomorrow for not putting tonights numbers on my lottery ticket! So, we'd burst the bank and spent every penny plus a lot more to bring Joe to Morecambe, then he comes out for a ball like Drench and busts his arm. The club is then in deep poo and we've no money to do anything about it, no money for the rest of the season for out field players either. Suddenly the whole club is in danger of folding. It's easy for us to gamble other people's money.

Peterborough can afford it if it all goes wrong.

So, if I understand this correctly. You'd rather have someone who, at best is dicey and certainly coming towards the end of his usefuleness & who can't even keep an eye on his own area (let's be honest here, however laughable as "that" goal was, it shouldn't have happened) against someone who is a fantastic future prosepect in these times of stupidly rising transfer fees?
Joe is a future England first choice, no matter what we offered, Posh (no, not Mike-although you never know....) would've outdone it. Strong word around here is that the deal will be done, maybe not until January but it willl be.
Anyhoo, ftm, yup, before Robbo, give me Lewis any day. Having sadly seen England far too many times.
