well done to droylsden tonight on beating that so called big team from derbyshire...the chesterfield message board is really really funny - also jack lester got straight red in the game so will be out for 3 games (This is all from a team who think they are too good for league 2 - interesting)

Put yourself in their shoes, 2-0 up last week and the lights go out!!
Lose with a man sent off.
I'd be pretty livid too.

Isn't this the fourth time this tie has been played though? and in the first tie when the game was abandoned during the fsecond half I believe Droylsdon were leading 2-1. A fair result if you ask me.

Also, I think Chesterfield fans have a right to expect a lot better than what they are currently being served up. They must have one of, if not the biggest palying budgets in this division and they aren't even close to play-offs at the moment never mind automatic promotion. I dread to think what Jack Lester is on a week as he turned down a contract at Forest and dropped a division. A few others must be on big deals also.

Most of the professional East Midlands clubs are a complete mess, have been for about a decade. IMO each club is at least one division lower than where they should be.

Looks like Droylsden could get kicked out of the cup because the guy that scored for them lastnight should have been suspended oooooooooops

How can this happen. I mean did the player himself not realise?

Initially I thought, stupid twats, deserve all they get but now I've heard it explained how it happened and you can see it was an easy mistake to make. The lad was apparently told that he was banned on Boxing Day. The FA Cup match was then re-arranged to fit in before Boxing Day. As he'd been playing in the original match that didn't finish, it was assumed that he was still eligible and that the ban still stood for Boxing Day, as this wasn't a 'replay' following a drawn match but a 'replaying' of the original.

The story of this fixture still isn't finished with because Droylsden have appealed the decision and are hoping the FA will agree to the match being replayed... again! After the farce with the floodlight failure and the third round due on Saturday, I can't see them agreeing to that or upholding the appeal, which is a shame because the cash from this would set the club up for a good few years, as it is, they have to return the £30,000 prize money.

The only appeal criteria I would think should be accepted would be if Droylsden tried all day to contact an FA official for a proper clarification - and confirmation in writing - that the lad was eligible and there was no-one available at the FA to provide that confirmation so they went with whatever was the last piece of official paperwork they had (and that paperwork implied he was eligible).

All I've been able to glean so far is that the club 'sent a fax' to the FA before the game saying they thought he was eligible.

With no follow-up call to confirm, or no attempt to get a letter of confirmation faxed back from the FA, in my opinion, that's not good enough and (from what I've heard so far) I have little sympathy.
