Thought we started well actually. Then we got to 10th minute.. Pools are a different team now. Baz our best player. Not good Murphy going off...
Confidence probably too high after unbeaten pre season..
We were never going to score 1st IMO.. bring on reinforcement s in 65th minute

Hartlepools match report is very complimentary ,saying we pushed them hard for 90 minutes, as does their fans forum, Molyneux being our best outfield player, and mullers and devitt both very lively.

Early days yet so no downer from me although thought maybe both new lads could have been on as soon as we went 2-0 down.

Just hope Murphy is OK. A couple of big games coming up.

Hope the new captain is going to be ok

fortunately we are strong in the midfield department this season and have plenty of options , I expect Goodall to come in to anchor the midfield.

Don't want to upset a certain someone after just 90 minutes..... ;)

Thought the build up play today was excellent. We nearly scored every time we went forward which after the first 20 minutes was a lot. On another day we would've scored 3 or 4. Also liked the quick distribution by the hand of Barry, sometimes was a bit wayward but allowed us to build quickly through the very good midfield. Lets hope we can start putting some of the chances away. For me a very promising start in spite of the score.

We played some great stuff in the second half, created a hat full of chances, but unfortunately we didn't convert any of them. Was frustrating to see Wildig playing so deep after he flourished during pre season in a more attacking role.

I love the man to bits, but Kevin Ellison shouldn't have finished the game. Not quite sure why we kept him on. Mullin and Beeley neck and neck for MOTM for me, both were outstanding.

A bad result, but we will bounce back.

Pools fan here possibly the best morcambe team I have seen today, granted only maybe seen you play us 6 or 7 times but you can count yourselves a little unlucky to say the least today. You will cause better teams than us problems this year their is no doubt about that. Think the difference this year for us is we have a team with dangerous forwards on the pitch and are capable of taking our chances. We will improve dramatically as the season progresses when we get our new team sorted and one or two teams will get a shock from us. Id definately be putting you down for a few away wins on the coupon this year, looked a dangerous team. Great atmosphere there today and a crowd of 4300 great to see our ground rocking again after some horrendous last few years. Next up for us a trip to York one of our boagey grounds hoping we can get a similar result as today in front of 2000 travelling Poolies. Dont think it will be long before you pick up your first win. Keep the faith.

really hope not, Paul Scott anyone?, i was buzzing when we signed him, a badly needed holding player we needed to protect the back 4, he got injured early into his MFC career, and eventually quit through injury

Yes looks like he could be out for a long long time. Shame in first game of the season.

Everything except the result was pretty good today. I think playing quite a physical, competitive league 2 game against Hartlepool was a bit of a shock to the system after pre season but we got hold of the game and got forward well, creating numerous chances.

We should really have scored 2 goals, still allowing ourselves a couple of misses. Molyneauxs chance probably the most guilt edged - open goal about 8 yards out and unable to tap it in. Not our day.

Good performance though, I think today we can genuinely say we were unlucky and if we play like that again we will win. Mullin got frustrated (as we all did!) but showed great character in leading the line, got everywhere and caused problems. Beeley was constantly getting forward and pivotal to numerous attacks down the right. Throw in his goal line clearance and he's probably my man of the match.

Thank you. Living in the South West I don't get to see many Morecambe matches so praise from an opposition fan carries a lot of weight for me. When I saw the score I must admit I was a bit disheartened but if you say we played well I'll do as you say and keep the faith :)

How can you say that without being at the game??? Excellent first half, just missing that stroke of luck. Such as hitting the crossbar and missing a one on one before they got their goal? Just a few inches different and we could have been 0-2 before they had their first chance.

Left with the brace on, using crutches. :? :( :( :(

Sounds like today was a bit of a reality check after an unbeaten pre-season. Could have really done with getting something as we have 5-6 really tough looking fixtures coming up.

Still, looking forward to Tuesday. Not seen us kick a ball since April and we might just have a chance against a Sheffield Utd team that shipped four today.

Hopefully get 3000+ on and a 2-1 win. :D
