the club have done right! it will cost to much in security and a Police presence.

Then you would only get people complaining saying they want a refund from MFC if the match got abandoned.

Blackpool fans are going about it in the wrong way, protest at their own games at home, and not at the expense of others.

We spoke about this possibility at the match last night.

For me this is the correct decision by our Board.

A fellow Shrimp fan went to watch the Lancaster game last Saturday and heard on more than one occasion the Blackpool 'fans' boasting that pitch invasions would happen at every pre season game and beyond until the Oyston family quit Blackpool. In view of that the decision to cancel was the most logical but is a shame for football in general.

No thanks...remember the last time we played them in a preseason game... :?: :?: :?:

The risk of injuries is just not worth the hassle...

I'm sure an alternative will be arranged even v Blackpool behind closed doors so that neither team will suffer from a lack of a pre season game.

They broke Johnny Colemans leg!!! Was it the South Lakelands soft drink cup that we used to play every season?

What was he doing there in 2008?

What a crazy situation and one that could tarnish League 1 when the real action starts
Always liked our Lancashire clubs, especially Blackpool but this nonsense has to stop! Agree with others that this is a good move.
Never had this when Oldham visited the Globe and we got to see a good 2-2

Will we get a replacement game at home for the same date then ? It'll be very difficult to sort a decent opponent out now. Best chance would be a premier league reserve side. Sad what a shit club little jack has signed for !

It appears that Barrow don't have a game that weekend and are looking for a fixture!

It will be interesting to see what happens to their friendly at Accrington, I guess they are Lancashire Policeas well so the costs should be the same

From the Blackpool forum:

"Scared of another pitch invasion. Intelligence?? Can't have been from our club."

Wouldn't be surprised if the game v Blackpool is played on the 28th afternoon behind closed doors.

It would make sense as both teams will look for match practice against squads of similar capabilities.

The Barrow suggestion would be Ok from the financial point but the risk of injuries against lesser opposition out to prove a point could be a major consideration in whether such a game took place.

Adam Lord has just tweeted that "Morecambe are looking for new opponents for the 28th"

Get over yourself. If Blackpool/PNE/Rovers etc looked at Morecambe with that sort of attitude you'd be fuming.

Considering we hammered you 5-0 the last time we played I imagine the main concern is that you lot wouldn't provide a stern enough test. ;)

I went to watch Barrow at The Huge Chopper last night Dave against them from over The Lune.

Ashley Grimes looks a very good signing for you and has been mentioned on here over the years as a player we should have been looking at (had finances permitted.....)

Cowps had another good game. Still wish we could have kept him with us.

Didn't go myself but I hear we played ok - Elliott Newby, brother of Alex, in fine form again.

Son of God is a useful player - very versatile too. He's played right back, left back, centre half and centre midfield for us.

Barrow appear to have a very good team on paper and could be pushing for promotion to the FL come May 2016. The inward investment they have got from a former fan now based in America (?) seems to be giving them the financial clout to do well.

Would be good for this corner of the UK if they did get promotion as it would be a welcome addition to our fixtures.

He's very much a current fan - bit pointless spending shitloads of money if you're not that bothered.

And yes, we're assembling a half decent squad. I don't think we'll be troubling the play offs but we'll be comfortably mid table.
