The Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth is to be sponsored by Emirates who will just happen to paint it red in the colours of Southampton (and Morecambe)

For a million quid a year would we let someone paint our red bits, blue?

Spurs fans weren't to happy when Tottenham announced AIA would be their shirt sponsor a couple of years ago - the companies logo is red (Arsenal) Money talks though, £12million a season.

I remember a few weren't happy when we first got a dark blue away top... People's opinions seemed to change when we won at Wembley in it though!

It'll look like a great big c**t!
Can see it from our back bedroom.
There'll be H&S issues for the safety of local graffiti artists.

...I'll give you a wave in about an hour's time. :)

It's great living down south.

If you wave while hanging from that rope next to the camera you will have a large audience, maybe hold hands with CC on his way to the Med

The new blue paint job kicks-off today.
It'll be finished in plenty of time for this great event which starts at 1000 on Saturday 22 August, which is when Morecambe visit Pompey...

"The Annual over-50s naked abseil down Spinaker Tower is this year being held on 22 August. On completion there will be the customary naked streak through Gunwharf Quays.
Entry is only £15, and proceeds might be given to charity.
More info on http://www.titsandtodgers.co.uk".

Sounds like a must-do event for Marky No.1 8-)

The Red Arrows display team had to cancel their show over Portsmouth and Southsea yesterday.

Reports that this was due to a 10,000-strong petition demanding that the aircraft be re-painted blue before being allowed anywhere near Pompey are as yet unconfirmed..... :)
