I bloody love cricket.
Mainly because of of the BBC coverage of the John Player League, Benson & Hedges Cup and test matches in the 70's and Jim Laker and Richie's commentaries.

Vivid memories of 81 and that series all enhanced by the superb faultless and unbiased voice of the sport.
Genuinely sad day for me, as part of my childhood passes on.
"Thank you, Jim"!

nice bloke, I once met him, I was at a penthouse party in Coogee Bay(Sydney) and he popped out of his balcony and asked nicely with a smile if we could keep the noise down, he was a friend of a fiends next door neighbour, who thought he was away.

will be missed.

Probably the best sports commentator ever.

He just said what needed to be said and left the viewers to watch the action.

Brilliant comment when Rod Marsh tackled the streaker. "That's the only catch Rodney Marsh has made today".
