How long before tackling slide tackling especially is forced out of football. In the premiership refs are now giving cards out for fun for any form of slide tackle that touches another player regardless of whether you win the ball. Good example was Gerrards against Chelsea, thats just the premiership. European football or champions league is even more ridiculous and the referee's are just encouraging simulation from players because they know the refs are instructed to clamp down on 'over physical' tackles.
Yet we have the Saturday/Sunday league football where you literally have to take a swing at someone, or call the ref a "fat tw!t" to get sent off. Played against Boys club the other week and a dropkick tackle from behind that crumpled a player wasn't really noticed by anyone never mind got a freekick or a yellow. Personally a brilliant sliding tackle is just as good as a player running past 2 opponents, it shows the detemination and passion football is about.
Over-paid players now getting over-protected, get ready for the days when your not allowed to wear studs, we play on simulated grass and were all wearing pads and armour..................... oh were not american yet
