Radio Lancashire have confirmed that Mark is one of 5 coaches interviewed for the position of Development Coach by Hull City.

The Hull manager interviewed on the radio has said that permission was granted by both Sammy and the Morecambe Board for them to discuss the position with Mark.

It's unlikely that any outcome of the interviews will be known until next week.

Would be a massive loss to the club. Mark is a top coach and a top bloke.

But we don't stand in the way of anyone's career. Would be bitter sweet.

I don't know Mark Lillis but whenever i've heard him speak he is an extremely knowledgeable, likeable and very funny fella' I live very close to the field where the team sometimes train and I often hear bursts of laughter after Mark has spoken, he's fantastic at building morale and team spirit and it would be a huge loss to our club if he were to leave, so from a selfish point of view we should tell Hull City and any other club that comes sniffing round that we are in preperation for our new season with Mark Lillis and they should bog off and look elsewhere

Mark is a total motivator. Sammy and the team will need someone like Mark if he goes, or we are back to nice guy management like when after Tony Hesketh left and JH was on his own!

This would be bad for the club, but as bigreddog says-we shouldn't stand in his way. Lets be honest here, who would stay here when the challenge of a premier league club is in front of them? Hull are a club who most think will drop down straight away, for any coach this is what it's about. If he decides he wants to go and if the job is offered to him we should shake the mans hand, says thanks and wish him the very best of luck.

Good job with a Prem club a short drive away from where he and his Mrs live. Or driving every week to stay over here, a League Two club, for a few nights away from his family?

If he gets offered the job then I'm sure he'll take it and good luck to him. Big, big loss to us in so many ways and many of us who have had dealings with him would miss his presence immensely - but you just can't compete with that kind of offer.

Mark is sure to always retain a soft spot for Morecambe, he clearly enjoys the club and the support he and Sammy get here. If it did happen, might we see a couple of decent Hull Reserves players who need a bit of first team action being loaned out to somewhere Mark knows they'll be looked after properly?

Losing Mark would be a hammer blow for the club, but Sammy is well known and well respected, so I'm sure he would have someone to call upon. There are a lot of football people out of the game at the moment, and an assistant manager's post at a Football League club is an attractive proposition nowadays.

I could be wrong (as if ! ) but I seem to recall Sammy after the then Workington Manager when he took over...............who is now back in the North East as manager of wealthy Blue Star?

I'm sure Tommy Cassidy resigned as manager of Blue Star Neil after they were pi$$ing about trying to decide which league to play in next season .........

In time YES, but not at the moment. He needs to get experince at a lower level then have a crack at the league. But Sammy will decide IF it actually comes to it.

Agreed, think Jimbo would benefit from a season or two a few leagues lower when he comes to hang up his boots. But having said that, what about the likes of Southgate at Middlesborough? Unless I'm mistaken he went straight into managing at the top. Also was a touch surprised at Inces appointment at Rovers, I'd have thought out of all the candidates he was one of the ones with least experience, especially at that level. I guess it supports the argument that experience isn't necessarily necessary!
