I think we're looking at about seven forum members who will spend some time on the rock over the next couple of weeks. We could have arranged a 'shrimpsvoices' get together? We could have worn our Morecambe shirts? A group of guys at the side of the course, all wearing red??? Perhaps not. What about an away shirt? I've got one of those yellow shirts somewhere...

Captain (or any other shrimps visiting) drop me an e-mail keith.fitton[at]manx.net with your number and we'll try and get together for a pint.

Joking about it, but when I used to marshal, we once had to 'borrow' a jacket for someone to wear because he had a bright yellow top on and at race speeds it may have been mistaken for a flag!

Off up to the grandstand for a wander. See you on the rock soon!

I'm off over tomorrow to watch Pre TT Classic on Monday and TT practice. I used to race in Sidecar class years ago ( last TT in 1978).

Anyone know what TV coverage it has this year, if its itv 4 they showed each race the day after it took place. Poor coverage for the best road race in the world

I'll be there from 1st 'till 11th June. Supposed to be marshalling at Barregarrow but haven't returned my signed form as yet, hopefully they'll still let me join in though!

I'm not into bikes, but do they still do that mad sunday thing or has that gone years ago to health & safety etc.

the main thing about mad sunday was that the mountain road became 1 way for the day. 9 miles of one way country road, with no speed limit.
Now it's like that for 2 weeks.
problem is the road is shut more than it's open, on account of idiots riding outside their limits.
Mad sunday is traditionally the day everyone has a ride/drive round the course, so you get bikes, buses, locals in evo's, ferraris, caterhams & any other fast cars you can think of, & Keith in his rolls royce.
Consequently we don't bother!

Fingers crossed for the weather, heatwave will have kicked in by Friday!! :D
Don't expect much(any) sleep on the boat, unless youve booked a cabin. First class is good, guaranteed comfy seat, complimentary tea/ coffee/biscuits/pop (always get plenty, gota get your moneys worth!)
C'mon you Morecambe Missile!!

Any motorsport leaves me cold - not interested at all, can't see the attraction etc..

But I tuned into the coverage a couple of years ago because I was interested in McGuinness and think he's a great ambassador for Morecambe.

And I was hooked.

Maybe for those 'into' it all, the coverage was a bit 'after the event' but I liked the way they captured the spirit and character of the weeks and treated it as more than just a race.

They also unearthed a natural TV talent in Guy Martin who, as Freez and I predicted at the time, later got his own show.

It was this - forward to 2mins - that really did it for me!

I'm actually looking forward to this year's coverage again.

I know what you're saying, 25-30 years ago, though a confirmed 'biker', i couldn't see the big attraction of racing, then, to shut a friend up, i went to the TT. This will be my 21st visit!! Roll on Thursday night!! I've booked a heatwave to start then.
I think a few of the local business owners could make a bit more of it though.
I've thrown a page together of local pubs etc., that seems to have gone down well with the TT revellers.

One thing that is always requested is car parking, from a day to 2 weeks, preferably secure. Heysham port charge £7.50 a night, and it's always full!
any ideas anybody?

I think the Morecambe Missile is first off in the Superbike race next Saturday. As you say hoping for good weather both for the crossing and to see some racing. Not sure what there is to do in Douglas for 13 hours if its pissing down.

We've got reserved seats in the Niarbyl Lounge on the ferry

So if we park up from 2.15am to 11.45pm at Heysham port on Saturday how much are we going to get charged?

He sure is, i reckon he could break the record again this year, no traffic to pass for a couple of laps.
Head for the grandstand would be the best option, i think, BUT, i was serious about the heatwave!!! take suncream!!
have a good one.

I've suggested Morecambe FC shirts for the iomtt.com forum meet!
http://www.iomtt.com/Home/Forum/ShowPos ... tID=241548
I'll probably get grief for that  Might be good if Andy is going to turn up so he can find us? Can you get Mr Led to wear a Shrimps shirt?

Hey!
We've paid for the corporate thing - 'Captain' & 'Mr. Led' T-shirts!!!
You will comply.

in which case we'll see you next sunday eve.
