I've been contacted by the club regarding a thread that I've just removed.

Without going in to details of which thread (which would kind of defeat the point of removing it) there are rules regarding the signing of new contracts and so some players are not able to sign a new contract until after those dates.

Please take care when posting, that the information you supply is allowed to be in the public domain. Obviously you can still e-mail me to give me details privately!

Surely any contracts that are expiring 30/06/10 (which I think it the date contracts end), and the player extends say now 15/05/11, will extend from 01/07/11? I can't see how/what rules could be broken.

Whether or not they're on loan, you can't have two contracts at the same time. It's not unknown for a new club to agree terms before another contract has expired but what you don't do is talk about it, or have your photo taken holding the new club scarf

My opinion has always been that while we don't do the club's bidding, we don't intentionally do the club harm either. It appeared to be a reasonable request, so the thread went. We can't control Facebook or Twitter and we all know how easy it is for players to get themselves in to trouble using those!
