is that because its a Bank Holiday ? I was going to try the train , lets face it getting to Crewe on a train ought to be easy.

How much was it for one adult return ?

For anyone going on the train, it is cheaper to buy a return to manchester (£14.80 adult) and then a return from manchester to crewe (£9.10) than buying a manchester to crewe ticket (£34.80!). It means a slightly longer journey as you have to make the change, but worth it for the saving. Saying that, your best going on a coach/by car/car sharing.
