Fans' Club Morecambe AGM and Executive Elections

The next dates for the diary are the Annual General Meeting on Saturday 7th May. Starting at 5.30pm (Immediately after the Northampton game). The meeting will have updates, elections of executive committee and vote on the new constitution.

In preparation of the AGM, Fans' Club Morecambe would like to hear from anybody interested in nominating themselves for one of the ten committee positions. In the event that 10 or less people put forward nominations, then there will be no election. If 11 or more are received then every Fans' Club member will have a vote for their top ten by as many means as possible (details to follow). Nominations will close on the 23rd April 2011 at 5pm ( any nominations received after that will not be valid)

Nominations should be e-mailed to: darrenclifford123@btinternet.com or sent to Fans' Club Morecambe Nominations c/o 59 Norton Rd, Heysham, Morecambe, LA3 1PF.or you can of course send a pm.

The AGM will be as brief as possible as it is anticipated that a club social event for fans will be organised for the evening of the 7th May.

Many Thanks

Darren Clifford

Darren are people nominating themselves for specific roles and if so what are they?

you can nominate as an exec member without a specific role at this stage. there are the specific roles of chair, vice-chair, treasurer, secretary and membership secretary. from a constitutional point of view at this stage merely being nominated to serve on the committee would qualify you to take on the specific roles, but as we're in the first throws of things there wont be a need for that until we have ten elected members confirmed at the agm. I'll send you the revised constitution via e-mail in a bit so you can add or delete any of it before we present it to the agm meeting.

The deadline for nominations ever approaches. It's an opportunity to build on what we've done so far and in football speak "really kick on". If you're interested please get in touch.

Can you please drop my name from the list Darren, I cannot go into details but it's best if I have nothing to do with the supporters club at moment, to much going on.

Cheers

Thanks for letting me know Sam. I'm sure I can speak for everyone associated with the Morecambe family when I say a very big thank you for everything you have done to help get the supporters club going again, and of course everything you did to get the MFC bus project to be such a success well before that. you will be sorely missed, we understand your decision and wish you well.

How many nominations so far Darren? Shame Sam's not putting himself forward. The work on the bus shows he's someone who completes not just talks.

I've got 9 nominations so far, so anticipate there will probably be an election required. It's certainly a shame Sam is taking some time away, as you say he's got a record of getting things done which is great. Any more nominations would be very much welcome.

Player of the Season Awards I do believe. So are we all voting for Capaldi?

I think, as Shrimper's earlier suggestion, we should have a 'rigged' award for Capaldi, just so we can shoot him.

Ill be back by next season, but I feel for now its best served that someone who can put 100% into this should take the spot, although hopefully in the future I can try and get a place within the committee.

I have had a hell of a lot of support from fans and friends in the last 12 months and for that I am so thankful, but I need to take a few months out and try and pick myself back up again, and hopefully those who have help me of recent will continue to support and help me in the coming months.

I would also like to add should anyone who needs some support or advice then please PM and Ill try and help the best way I can, but as from around the 6th May I will be away for at least a month maybe 2 just depends on several things, my hope is before I go away I can join in the end of season parties (we are staying up) ones especially

The "we are staying up" parties start this weekend Sam, it's a joint one with some lads from Barnet. You will be there.

As you may have noticed we have more than 10 people willing to work for the Fans', that would now ordinarily trigger a ballot.

of course, the future is entirely down to the members, and if members want something different to happen, we are your servants. Any ideas of what to do next would be gratefuly received.

Could I suggest that all 15 are elected on to the committee and that any vote should simply to determine executive positions, eg if two or more of the fifteen wished to stand for chairman.

I don't think that fifteen is too large and we need to take full advantage of all enthusiasm and interest expressed. A committee of this size would also enable 'shadowing', for example, 'secretary' is traditionally a role that many people try to avoid. With a committee of fifteen, one of the non-executive roles could be 'secretary support' where that person assists the secretary and learns what is required so that the secretary has support and if they decide to step down next year, there is someone else who knows the role, if required.

Regardless of how that suggestion is taken up or not, I'd like to thank all fifteen who have put their names forwards, it is heartening to see this moving forwards.

Many thanks for that Keith, I echo your view on encouraging as many as want to be involved to be on the committee and using all the talents available and sharing the load too. if that is the settled will of the wider membership I for one would be delighted to move forward on that basis.
