Or like the OP states, not too far away. About an hour drive.

The Black Eyed Peas were terrible at the Superbowl, but the Foo Fighters have confirmed they are playing who are quality band to watch live.

Talking about festivals, Kendal Calling has got a very decent line-up this summer:

Cribs
Chase & Status
Blondie

Literally something for everybody plus it won't get in the way of the football season. Really is a gem of a festival, not too crowded, easy to get served (and real ale tents) and very reasonably priced for a weekend ticket.

Sign of getting older this, but I can safely say I listen to Radio 1 no more !!

Not even a pre-programmed channel in the car ........ :?

I do listen to the Chris Moyles Monday Night Pub Quiz on a Tuesday morning, IF I remember, but that for me, is it !!! Can't be doing with it ....... !

I certainly wouldn't call Radio 1 listeners "music lovers".

Same here. Mate of mine is related to the former lead singer of a Cumbrian band called It Bites whose most famous hit was (of course) "Calling All The Heroes" in '86.

The band are still going (with slightly different line up) and re-recorded the track to try and raise funds for the Cumbrian Flood Victims of the Whitehaven area year before last, when the floods struck.

Radio 1 refused to play list the track !!!

Just looked at line up and there's hardly any decent bands.

An hour away by car but a million tickets away if you don't have a Carlisle postcode because they get priority ticket allocations.
