It ain't, nobody has a clue.
Could be the strategy, but doubt it.
There will be trouble ahead.

Capello had a pretty good 'clue' in the qualifiers and, injuries aside, he has had it fixed in his mind for ages. He's given others the chance to prove themselves but he knows his 11 and it won't be far off what we're suggesting.

outsider - That's my team as well - I just think he may change it in the knockouts where midfield is going to be the key.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

Brazil and Spain are just a bit better than everyone else but, as others have rightly said, the best team doesn't always win (look at Italy last time as a recent example).

We have as much chance as about six or seven others just behind those two.
Gerrard's issues have, I believe been specifically at Liverpool and I think we'll see him back to form once he's out of the country.

BUT..... my tip is Argentina. I know how they've rattled along through qualifying and Maradona's clueless as a coach but I just think they have so many players who, come the occasion, can turn it on. I think they can gel with or without their batty manager and just pull it all together for this tournament. Their big flaw is a lack of height but on the deck they can outbattle and outplay most.

I have bets on Messi and Tevez as top-scorers in doubles with Argentina to win it (33/1 and 150/1).
Oh - and don't read too much into any friendlies - ever!

OUCH!!! I did consider Higuain but was worried Maradona may play Aguero instead. Why didin't I just stick a couple of quid on??

They couldn't, as each team's 3rd game is played at the same time as everyone else in their group :P

Aye, I love the bloke but I don't know what he was on tonight. Said Spain would go out at group stage as well!

France should beat SA but will go out because... either Uruguay and Mexico will concoct a draw, or Uruguay will win and it'll go down to Mexico's result against France (if that's still how it works).

I think france's manager is already leaving, did he not announce it before the finals?
I've still not seen a game where I've thought "we can't beat them".
I still believe!

Almost. The rules to decided group places are first points, then goal difference, then goals scored, then head to head, then drawing lots!

So if France win by a few goals and the other game isn't a draw then they could go through on goal difference. I don't think it will happen though, I think they're out.

or we'll just be *hit?

Did anyone else start to hope England wouldn't score simply because Algeria were the better side and didn't deserve to lose?

I was hoping they would win, that way it would end our 2 yearly self delusion that we are a good team.

There was certainly a part of me that wanted them to score because they were streets ahead of England with regard skill and ability. For all their skill, they sadly seemed a little lost in the final third which is perhaps why they've struggled so much of late. The less said about England, the better. Yes, the players were woeful but this is the second match in which Capello's got his substitutions and starting line-up horribly horribly wrong. Clearly been taking lessons from the Northern Irish on that front ;)

Algeria deservaed a goal they played good football, out passed us, deff out tackled us (how many times did they just walk up to an England player and take the ball off them), they ran into space and tried to make things happen everything we didn't do all we did was pass it back to the keeper.

Thank God for England Algeria have no quality in the final third (a bit like England) but for all their effort and possesion they deserved a goal. I thought at least if Algeria score we will have to start trying to attack.

As for Rooney those supporters have prob paid at least £5000 at least to go to the world cup they have every right to boo and out of all the players Roney was prob the worst he lost the ball so much.
