DA is a good manager but his timing of substitutes is baffling..

It takes a player around 5 minutes to get into any game NOT the 3 DA decides is the right time.

I don't often message on here but just feel so frustrated with DA substitutions. We were clearly second best first half and he waits to the 63rd minute to make 1 sub. He has repeatedly said we have strengthened the squad yet we leave the best striker on the bench until 85 minutes. Why is White not getting a game when Cook, who can't run as fast as my mum, is playing every week. We have enough qaulity to be playing it on the deck, far too many hopeful long balls. I am a DA fan but I think he made some bad decisions today

Gillingham's first victory of 2025. They looked awful. This was a 'must win game' for us. Not mathematically or literally, but in terms of that 'mini-league' of relegation threatened, poor sides, it was 'must win'. Instead, we defended in depth and numbers, then spent the game smacking the ball long and aimlessly, then waiting for it to come straight back at us. Barely any decent passes to feet, lots of passes to Gillingham, and hoof-ball.

Could you pick a Morecambe MotM? It's difficult to identify any player who was above criticism. Burgoyne perhaps? Stott & Taylor maybe? Otherwise, poor everywhere.

Really? Which game was Derek watching? Come on Derek, admit that was awful and we were rightly beaten. Everyone who was watching could see Gillingham were the only ones who were going to score.

I agree completely with you Keith! There was only one team that deserved to win today and they did! Yes we have a pretty weak team but some of the blame lies on dereks shoulders for persisting with the same system and players week in week out when he needs to change things! Why make 3 substitutions with only a few minutes to go? At least give them 20 minutes to affect the game! I’m not sure who it was on radio Lancashire but he said that Derek says the same thing week in week out and he needs to take some responsibility for our results! This was a MUST WIN game and we didn’t turn up!

Thought his managerial carer at other clubs the one common denominator has been fans agreeing that he makes subs too late in most games to change a game when loosing.

Problem is that he is so stubborn to even listen to what the fans call for and his Assistant has no influence over him.

With Tutonda now suspended for the next 2 games.

it made me think it could be a blessing with Lewis likely to come in, but we all know even Derek that he Lewis isnt strong at defending, so we might see 3 center backs in a 3-5-2 / 5-3-2

allowing Andy Dallas to play more like a natural center forward.

Yes Keith a stubborn manager who won’t change his tactics even if they aren’t working! Let’s face it the owner takes the bulk of the criticism for the lack of investment in the playing staff but I think some criticism has got to be levelled at Derek for his tactics and very late substitutions! Either way we are knackered! Just hope we still have a club in a few years to support!

Two hard games coming up we will find it hard to get anything out of them the way we play, we will know then if we are still in with a chance. How we have fallen just hoping other teams lose all the time.
We let goals in and we don’t score, that way we go down in a whimper.

Never go down without a fight and Derek has to lead that by being brave and changing his tactics.

Not sure what more he can say other than to say how crap his players have been BUT what purpose would that do...

I suspect he tells it as he sees it in the confines of the changing room rather than in public which is the correct way to do it in my opinion.....a case of you don't expose your your dirty linen in public...

To a certain extent, I agree. And sometimes, that's the correct approach. But when it was so glaringly obvious to anyone watching, that we were never in it, and Gillingham were the only side going for a win, his response was clearly nonsense. He was half right when he said we deserved a nil-nil... We deserved 'nil'.
