Transfer rumours

The bulk if not all of the Chelsea money will and should be used to run our club ie wages etc.

As much as I would like a proportion of it to be used by DA to build the squad, the fact that our club runs at a loss dictates that any monies coming into the club should in my view be used to guarantee the survival of our club in EFL2.

Others will disagree but survival in EFL2 is critical for the very survival of our club. I fear that relegation would see the demise of the club only to follow in the footsteps of Bury ( even that would be questionable) and look how long it took for that club to be resurrected far from its previous stature... :?: :?: :?:

Thinking on the same lines redrobo, :D bulk going to cut losses and some added to Dereks budget to stay in the EFL and be able to go another year in the EFL (hopefully with a new owner) with a competitive budget given to the Club.

If we don't get a good striker we won't survive in this league.

Zip-a-dee-door-dar!! Absolutely nothing, no rumours what so ever, while others have snapped up players already. No need to panic, let’s get Saturday over and done with and hope things are going on in the back ground.

Carlisle have signed 5 new players so far but 'it is what it is' and there's no point in getting too het up about it. Things will certainly be going on in the background and Derek will be trying his best. There's no other manager that I trust as much as him.

Wonder if Derek might take the opportunity this weekend to enquire about any loans from Chelsea

I had hoped Saturday would have been a selling point for bringing a young player in over the last week, potential to make your debut against Chelsea?

That we're not even hearing little snippets is concerning. We're now two players down on an already weak squad.

100%, especially for a younger player wanting to go out on loan and make a name for himself.

Could come down to money we can offer, we haven’t got much to spread around if Rod is right about wages, even youngsters. The selling point is game time, I think you can be pretty sure any injury free lad will get plenty of game time. We need the calibre of youngster we had at the begging of last season.
Premiership Clubs and Championships Clubs are recalling a lot of youngsters who never got a lot of game time so opportunities there, if we can strike a deal!!

9 days in to the transfer window but 25 days to go! Believe it or not Derek knows what he’s doing. There are other clubs similar to ourselves also playing a waiting game, never easy and it can’t be rushed. We need to sign the right type not panic buy/sign. Yes we’ve lost 2 so we have an even smaller squad but that’s a positive thing as with each day that passes we are saving 2 wages

I'm sure Derek is wise enough to get the right players in before the end of the month, he has done some shrewd and good business over the years in bringing in fringe players from bigger clubs. We may yet be able to afford to buy in if the funds are made available or we get on loan.
Derek knows how it works in the lower divisions in who or what is available, plus he has the benefit of possibly picking from Scottish premier teams.

In his Chelsea interview Derek as said there will be some money available for the window from the money made in the Chelsea game

I suspect we won't be most player's first choice. So it may be later in the month before someone comes in. Hopefully it won't be too little, too late

I'm sure you are right, but I'd have thought it could/should work in the opposite way too. For a young lad, needing experience, go to Port Vale and sit on the bench, or come to Morecambe and be first choice to start each game, which does your development most good?

Keith you are crediting most young footballers with common sense. I bet most of them expect to get playing time with whichever club they go to because they have been told they are good. If they believe that they will preferably go to a bigger team.

With some money from the Chelsea game it will Derek and like it's been said may be the Home Club of a big team might want a player in a higher league than us and a young lad might feel the same, but the big thing we have got is a track record with youngsters of giving them game time. If a young lad thinks he's made it he needs to ask WHY. Get some game time with Morecambe.

I thought Oliver was pretty poorly treated during his spell with us. Was always a great aerial/physical threat, just seemed to massively lose confidence in front of goal. He's a bit older now and not the player he was at Gillingham, but I still would take him too.

Only issue is he's apparently on crazy money at Bradford (far beyond what he's worth), despite generally being pretty much surplus to requirements. There'd definitely be capacity for him to leave, but my guess would be that it's highly unlikely we could come to a financial agreement. Frustrating that players are taken off the market like this essentially due to poor transfer strategy from clubs who throw far too much money around.

Barrow have just signed a striker which, similarly to them signing Stockton last year, will have pushed Ged Garner way down the pecking order. Anybody fancy Garner round two?

Getting a bit desperate if we want Oliver back, only time he looked good was in the fa Cup against non league hartlepool! I'm sure DA can find better

Wouldn’t do to bad if we could persuade Liverpool to give us another youngster, Hopefully they are impressed with how Morecambe FC and Derek have handled Rhys Williams, you can see his improvement through getting consistent game time. Come on Liverpool it’s better than sending your youngster out to sit on the bench like a couple have who have just been recalled.

Sure Derek will have a few new players in the next few weeks

We need to get the right ones in though not just squad players or bench warmers

Not sure why we would be interested in signing Oliver given that he’s basically another Marcus Dackers - an effort merchant who wins a few headers but struggles to score or assist.

I think I’d slightly prefer Ged Garner although neither Garner or Oliver would fill me with much confidence.

I thought Garner was pretty hopeless last season but compared with what we have to work with now I'd probably snap your hand off to take him back.

Liverpool are considering a loan move for striker Jaydon Danns who scored v Accy at the weekend.

Probably out of our reach but with Liverpool possibly impressed with the way we have looked after Rhys Williams to get him back playing regularly I wonder if Liverpool would consider a loan deal for Danns with the guarantee of consistent game time for the rest of the season.

Too much to expect..... :?: :?: :?:
