Great result and a performance to go with it.

The interplay in the final third was great; the ball being passed cleverly through the Shrews defence - something which we've obviously lacked for a while now - and Duffy and Shuker were at the heart of it. The game changed when Spencer was sent off and it was back to Mullin up front on his own with everyone else too tired/busy defending to push up and support. But we defended well and held out for a deserved 3 points.

Roche - 7. Good saves and timewasting at the end. :)
Capaldi - 7. Not tested much but a second solid performance and showed some skill on the ball.
McCready - 6. Solid game.
Charnock - 7. Won everything in the air. Took a knock to the head but got bandaged up and came back Terry Butcher style.
Parrish - 8. Loads of good tackles and energy going forward down the flank.
Wilson - 7. Playing him on the wing worked again.
Drummond - 6. Composed and played his part.
Stanley - 6. Decent game.
Duffy - 8. Great first half, showed vision with his passes and usual ball control/skill.
Shuker - 7. Getting better. Worked hard and looked creative.
Spencer - 7. Major part of this new look attack - he allows Duffs, Shuker etc to play the way they want. Shame about the red card but by the sound of Sammy's interview, we'll appeal and hopefully get any suspension lifted.

No...but probably Stewart Holden Right Winger. Way back in the late 60's early 70's?

'Great' is pushing it ever so slightly...

Anyway, very good result today. We do seem to be a bogey side for Shrewsbury Town, much in the way Accrington are for us. It remains important in such a tight league to keep putting results together so we can't afford to rest on our laurels.

Every Morecambe player is "great" in my eyes, but I admit it's a bit of a rosy nostalgic way of looking at it, but what the heck? :)

I couldn't make it today, but what a win. It sounds like Sammy is starting to know what his best 11 is? Gutted that Spencer will be banned though, he has been playing very well lately.

Hopefully Jevons can come in and fill his place? Aslong as we keep Mullin off the pitch.

Surely it was Stuart Holding. Played on the right wing with Charlie Lea on the left. I remember York City kicking lumps out of him in an FA cup replay at Maine Road.

Great result :D ! Dissapointing about Spencer though. If we play Mullin, we'll probably start hoofing the ball again and if we play Jevons, it might get in the way of the way Shuker plys. A bit of a situation now.

I was thinking the same at the match yesterday when Spencer saw red. With Jimmy probably missing the next three games we'll need Jev back. Jevons failed a fitness test at Stockport during the warm-ups, so he can't be too far away from being match fit a couple of weeks later. The only concern being that he hasn't featured for the first team since the Port Vale game. The whole side were shocking in their next 90 minutes of football against Stanley.

Loved it when Stanners took a shot on the volley at an empty net from close to the half way line - needless to say he just missed the corner flag!

Shuker terrorised the Shrews defence in the first half. He was here, there and everywhere and winning flick ons which reached a red shirt. Didn't show the laziness that he has done in some other games. If he can get his passing sorted out he will be a great asset. Was great to see us passing through the channels instead of hoof! As Turner says in his aftermatch we made their defence panic into a "comedy of errors"

You must have noticed it though Sean, I know others have. Shall we agree on lethargic then? I am sticking up for him here, his input per "inch" was very effective ;)

The first half was our best for a very long time :D
