Could be wrong but players released are on contract till the end of either May or June so wouldn't expect any announcements until the window opens at the beginning of June.

Will be interesting to see what we do if as rumoured the budget is in the region of £750K which will make the money available to DA or whoever the manager is far less than many in the National League and possibly some clubs in the National Northern League....

Yann Songo'o among players released by Bradford City today.

We are going to need some players so I would like to think Derek will make an approach to sign him.

Could be wrong but did DA sign him when manager at Plymouth 2017 /2019 before Ryan returned to his native North West playing for Blackpool.

Certainly got the experience we could benefit from and at 6'5" alongside Rawson would form a central partnership of giants  and if expected Bedeau leaves for pastures new he would be an ideal replacement assuming that Lavelle doesn't come on a years loan.

:?: :?: :?:

Also why I'm on about the return of a former favourites.....how's about a return for Songo as the midfield destroyer....for me we missed his aggression since he left...

so will be linking up with AOC, Harrogate must be doing something right to be able to afford our players.

Is Gibbo from the North East/East Yorkshire? Maybe a 2 year contract closer to home was too good to turn down.

Liam was one DAs first signings following a period out of the game due to illnes

I suspect that travelling to our club has become difficult by himself and Harrowgate is a far easier journey.

A sad loss but not irreplaceable.

Interesting spelling Neil. You know only posh people pronounce it like that? To most it's 'Arrogat, like arrogant without the 'n'.

Err...
...what about the fact that we released him without offering him a contract? Travelling to Morecambe when he didn't have a job here would have been rather foolish! Even if we belatedly were able to offer him something, it would probably have been a one year contract, on similar money to Harrogate, who he would have been in advanced talks with, and have offered a two year deal.

Gibbo lived round the corner from me in Blackpool when he played for Morecambe so wasn't travelling that far

Sorry to see another Wembley hero go but he was poor last season IMO. He got an easy ride at times and was woeful when he played LB, he was torn to bits at Exeter.

Big loss this. Was torn apart at Exeter due to what was, in hindsight, an unwise formation shift - often up against 2/3 players on his own while we were disjointed and panicking looking for goals. No blame on him there.

Been a great player this season. Sturdy at left back and putting in some fantastic displays in midfield, especially given it was his first season there. Only times he looked really out of depth were against Barnsley and Ipswich, which is fair enough. Importantly, also got exactly what Derek was trying to do and bought into it - very valuable to have that. There's a reason the players voted him as their POTY.

Gibbo was decent at both defensive midfield and at left back for me, pretty consistent and is easily good enough for League Two. So bit of a shame but can’t blame him. We suffer, like most smaller clubs, from uncertainty, and offering two years deals to players when Robbo was in charge left us with little budget last season to play with.
Don’t think he was torn apart at Exeter, more of a change in formation and search for goals left him exposed, but we did suffer down both flanks to Exeters pace.
Good luck to him, good lad and very solid for Harrogate I’ll wager.

It wasn't so much how he was left exposed for me, it was how he was unable to track any runs at all. I'm not knocking him,.he was cultured on the ball and put in some cracking performances but he had a poor season last season. RA is correct in saying that Love got dogs abuse but Gibbo was lauded despite giving away similar goals.

Great signing for a good L2 side and I wish him well.
