I would go 4-5-1 Saturday away from home.I would put Hunter in midfield to break up play.I.m.o. everyone goes on about a weak defence but with Drummond,Stanley,Rundle Duffy they all like to get forward leaving the defence exposed. Also Drummond and Stanley with due respect arent the best tacklers in the world.Garys best when snapping at their heels. My team would be:
Roche
Parrish Bentley Scott Wilson
Duffy Stanley Hunter Drummond Rundle
Mullin

____________Roche________________

___________Duffy__________________
_____________Mullin_______________

I think Mullin is most effective with his back to goal. He's never going to be a prolific scorer because he's going to struggle to then turn and get a decent shot away. Duffy on the other hand is best when running at players and he can finish. I think Mullin doing what Mullin does best and then feeding an on-running Duffy could form the basis of a good partnership. The amount of time and energy the defences put in to shackling Mullin is one of the best reasons for playing him and having a tricky player up front with him. Also, I guarantee that this partnership would produce penalties because Duffy would get fouled regularly.

Possibly Shuker instead of Hunter.

So how did that work out then?

Here's what I think Sammy will play:

-------------------------ROCHE--------------------------

-------SCOTT---BENTLEY---PARRISH---CAPALDI-------

DUFFY---STANLEY---DRUMMOND---BROWN---RUNDLE

-------------------------MULLIN--------------------------

And here's what I would like to see:

-------------------------ROCHE--------------------------

-------PARRISH---SCOTT---BENTLEY---WILSON-------

DUFFY---STANLEY---DRUMMOND---BROWN---RUNDLE

-------------------------MULLIN--------------------------

CC, I know what you're saying about protection, but why oh why would you move a guy who has scored 3 in 3 from midfield in to defence??? :? Surely you have to stick people where they are performing well, and getting goals which we so desperately need?

Nos 8 and 10, the playmakers, up-and-down the park, just like they used to do.
Throw-ns by Nos 4 and 6 always went down the line.
Nos 7 and 11 whipped the opposition fullbacks for pace, and got in stonking crosses for Nos 8, 9 and 10.
Simple.
