He might have possibly been in the area, so decided to take some notes on us, considering we play them in under a month.

Just got back not the best of games i must admit. I thought Stanners had a good game and put in some really tasty tackles. Woods also caught my eye he was positive in his play, vocal and marshaled the defence well. Early days yet and its all about getting the players up to match fitness. My concern is where are the goals going to come from when the real games start?

Not a classic by any means. A typical pre-season friendly that had a few questionable tackles.

Without doubt we badly need a striker. Tonight was another display of powder puff stuff in attack. And annoying as it may be, why the hell do we not have a pop at goal when in good positions.

Stanners, Woods and Hanson caught the eye.

A mystery surrounds the non appearance of Garreth Farelly. He was on the team sheet; took part in the pre-match warm up; was on the bench up until about 30 minutes to go and then vanished!

McStay had a nightmare game v Southport's tall No9 who I remember from Burscough last year.

All in all a night and game to forget other than to provide further proof for the need for a recognised striker (possibly to play alongside Aaron?)

Thought we struggled in the first half due to the wing backs pushing forward too much and congesting the midfield, we couldn't seem to find a way into their final third at all, and looked shaky at the back. Woods must be the shortest centre back ever!

Thought we showed a bit more gumption in the second half, Stanley continuing in his quest to dominate the midfield and Duffy providing some real wing wizardry. Considering it was their first game together Taylor and Chadwick linked very well in the second half, showed glimpses of what could be if they're given time to develop into a partnership.

Wtf what that pitch invader doing as well, silly bugger.

Let's hope for an improvement come Saturday.
