Fellow Shrimps supporters, whilst I may be, once again, criticised for replying to a post via social media rather than on the OWS, I feel it appropriate to do so in this instance.
Firstly, to the January Fan's Forum, Graham's comment has been totally taken out of context. Prior to the new Finance Manager coming into the building in late July last year, Graham, through necessity, had been micro-managing this side of the business on a daily basis. Allied to this were the demands placed on him to deliver detailed information for the prospective purchasers of the club. What he did say in relation to the overall situation that we found ourselves in was; "I’d prefer to step back. We’ve got staff and it’s a case of trusting them to get on with the job. There’s simply not enough hours in the day on occasions. I’ve said this to the guys before, with our businesses, the club, our families, the EFL; when you put them together, there’s not enough hours in the day.” So, ultimately stepping back from the micro-managing of the dept on a day-to-day basis, to supporting the staff to do their jobs, not, as has been suggested, walking off into the sunset. January is one of the busiest periods of the year in Graham's profession, but he, again, dedicated an inordinate amount of time to the demands of the club, quietly away, getting on with it. Perhaps this misinterpretation, coupled with Ollie leaving, has led to 2+2=5?
So, onto the further episode of the rumour mill. I have been absent from some recent games, but I can assure you that this in no way alters my dedication to the cause. Sometimes, when you have given your all during the week, you cannot afford the time to get to a match. Both Graham and I have experienced this crazy situation over the years! Other personal issues also come into play at times.
Whilst I am a director and co-chairman of this wonderful club, I will continue to do my utmost to act in its best interests and for the benefit of our valued management, players, staff, and supporters. When the time comes and the ownership changes, I will continue to do my best and play whatever part I can, be that in the boardroom or on the terraces. Morecambe Football Club means a lot to us, but it is not down to us as individuals, as no one is bigger than the club itself.
The one plea that I will repeat here today is that we all play our part to the full and really try to make a positive difference for DA, his staff and the lads on the field of play in the season's run in. There is a lot of football still to play and we still have the opportunity to make the most of these games. COYS!
