O/T Come on England!

From my perspective, at 53, that's the best performance at a major tournament by an England side in my lifetime, so no shame on the lads getting beaten by the better team on the night. Think we would have been better pushing for a second goal a lot earliler, but second half Italy were all over us and their goal was inevitable. Hey ho, bring on Qatar!

I would have been more disappointed if Morecambe had lost to Newport than I was was when England lost last night. I have seen a few penalty shoot out disasters , not to mention the Hand of God and not qualifying for the 74 and 78 World cups. The defeat to Iceland 5 years ago was many times worse than last night.

Can anyone tell me how Jordan Henderson gets to play for England :?: :?:

Simple answer....NO.

Time for more of our young guns to be given their heads. Bellingham, Foden et al should be in the team going forward in preparation for the World Cup.

Another cruel exit. Very much reminded me of Germany in Euro '96. Always thought we needed to win it before penalties. It was a gamble that didn't pay off bringing on two players right at the end who didn't really get chance to get a feel for the ball after two hours warming the bench. Hopefully the experience will only benefit the squad when they go to the World Cup.

I genuinely feel sorry for you that you can just shrug it off like that.

Whole heartedly agree with you BS. Yes, I would certainly have picked Morecambe's promotion if it is a straight choice between that and an England win but it isn't is it?

I've come across a few people who aren't interested in an England performance because the team did not include one of their club's players and I don't understand it. Surely you can support both or have we changed so much as a nation that we no longer have pride in our country? If that's the case then I too feel very sad. However, the magnificent support inside Wembley over the last few games (and most of those no doubt have strong support for their own club at whatever level) has shown that our national pride is not yet dead!
