Morecambe 3 Chester 1 Taylor, Curtis x2 F/T

The game was all wrapped-up at half time. The second half was always going to be a disappointment. Conceding one goal is hardly falling apart!

Don't forget it is only the second time this season we have scored more than two goals in a match! All three were scored by our strikers too. Oh, and what about the injuries we have? etc.....etc....... :?

We are well on course for a top half finish now. The team deserves more support than they are getting, both on this board and through the gates at Christie. I can remember not so long ago seeing 4000+ for a cup tie against the very same team. :(

I don't think anyone's in the business of moaning for the sake of it; all points made are valid. Yes it was brilliant to watch the game in the first half, and a great feeling going into the second half 3 goals up; I felt really proud of the team. The challenge for me, and I suspect for many fans at the moment, is feeling confident that the lead will be maintained. I spent a good deal of the second half on tenterhooks, particularly after the Chester goal. The team has improved tremendously in recent weeks, communication seems to be better on the pitch, the pace is better, the conviction and hunger for the ball is there...most of the time...unfortunately consistency of play, whilst improving, remains to convince. Well done to the lads for doing so much to advance their game recently and for killing off the opposition in the first half; keep up the good work and work on extending the killing instinct for the whole game. Perhaps it would help us climb the league if some strategies were developed to maintain consistency.

Yesterday was a good result, against one of the few teams i would "expect" us to beat, and although the 2nd half was nothing to worry about, i cannot believe that still people who have less than positive things to say about the team continue to be shot down. We were very poor second half, there of course are far worse times to have a bad 45 mins than at 3up, we should have built on it, we should have performed better and we should have tried to entertain but we didnt. This of course is ok as the points are what matter, but it is expected that some will be slightly annoyed that we didn't see any flowing football in front of the north stand, after all the best way to maintain and gain fans would be to show them some entertainment.

Also it was clear to see that there was a huge improvement after O'Carroll's introduction. We started to link up and play it around again. He has to be one of the most intelligent players in the squad, and with his first touch and eye for a pass, i cannot believe he isn't being given a proper run, especially with his contract being up soon.

I take your point Panda about the entertainment, but from what I have read and been told (not at the game yesterday) we got it spot on. We're 3-0 up against a side that is struggling and have an injury list the size of Kilimanjaro, I don't think you can blame Sammy or the players for a slightly more cautious approach or even taking the foot off the peddle. If we had gone on to lose then you would have more cause to grumble, thoughts immediately turn to the 4-3 defeat under Harvey at Stalybridge Celtic (we had been leading by all sorts of scores). I still can't believe we lost that game!

Not at all. You can post what you want, but dont start crying when it gets challenged.

We are all allowed an opinion. Even me.

In my opinion some people seem to look for a negative whenever the opportunity arises. I prefer to dwell on the positives. Being 'concerned' when we won 3 -1 does not compute with me. I prefer to celebrate.

Offering some praise might even feel good.

You sound like you would happier at Old Trafford.

Some people aren't happy unless we win 5-0 every week and register 20 shots on goal.

Thought it was a brilliant first half performance, and at 3-0 up everyone in the ground knew we had it won. The team deserved a less strenuous half for themselves with a tough schedule coming up which is not what everyone wanted to see, I think many expected another couple of goals but it was still a good result all round.

Totally agree . The first half was excellent. It's been a long time that we had a 3-0 lead at half time.

So why therefore play so deep in the second that it invited pressure?

Sammy was constantly shouting telling the lads to 'push up'.

I and those around me had visions of another Chester fight back. Remember last seasons home game v Chester and the way they clawed their way back into that game?

Dear Ezz and Red Knight my OTHER team is the mighty Everton so the only time i would set foot in Old Trafford or the other place is to watch Everton or Morecambe if we ever drew them in the cup.

What's all this about people expressing 'concern' and not praising the team? It's a discussion/chat supporters' forum we're on and we're all entitled to say what we think! The majority of people are offering praise with either their own viewpoints or criticism; what's the problem with that? Yes, it's fantastic that we won. Yes, it was a poor show in the second half. The reason we watch Morecambe is that we support the team and want the club to do well, with the players playing to the best of their ability. Telling someone he should watch premier league teams because he'd like to watch Morecambe play more attacking football suggests little faith in Morecambe's ability to achieve. Shame on you! Of course they can play better...there's another 3.5 leagues to climb yet!!!!

I want to see us win football games and understand that we are one of the 5 smallest clubs in the League so when I see us go in at half time 3-0 in front I don't then start moaning about it if we fail to improve on that in the second half.

If we had gone out and carried on pressing in the 2nd half who is to say we wouldn't have conceeded 3 (Northwich and Stalybridge ring any bells?). Now that would have given you something to moan about.

Mark S - I wasn't aware I was berating anyone lol:

Red Knight - I think you've missed the point I was making. I was very happy with yesterday's result, but as I said earlier I don't think the play was consistent. That's an observation, not a complaint.

I think expressing an opinion that someone should watch another team for expressing their opinion was the point Star was making, which, in my opinion, is quite reasonable and you should therefore keep your opinion, to yourself...
