As confirmed a few days ago by the EFL, if Bury were ejected from the Football League, their record for the 2019/20 season would be voided and League One would consist of 23 clubs for the rest of this season.

The number of relegation places from League 1 to League 2 would be reduced from 4 to 3 at the end of this season, however the number of promotion places from League 2 up to League 1 would remain at 4, so as to ‘re-fill’ League One.

League Two will then run with 24 teams, and how it currently stands, is that there will be only 1 team relegated from our league, but still promoting 2 National League teams, as to make up the 24.

If Bury do get expelled, the EFL will treat it as if Bury have got relegated from League 1, then relegated from League 2 etc etc etc

If they were that bothered, they wouldn’t have bought Salford and invested so much in them. If you care that much, sell your shares in Salford, and use your fortune to save your home town club.


And I didn’t say bail out every club that’s in turmoil. It’s their home town club, if they cared that much about it, they’d do something about it as they’re more than capable.

If Bury Council met and passed a resolution to say that planning permission will be refused for any development on Bury FC land in the event that Bury FC go out of business, I bet the desire to keep the club alive would become more 'focussed'. If the land was worthless then what? They may not be able to entirely stop a development, but if it is clear that it would be contested every step of the way, no developer would want it.

Now they are at the eleventh hour and their fate is nearly sealed it is perhaps a time for reflection.They fell into the clutches of con-men and vagabonds who sold them the dream of Championship Football based on no more than money misappropriated from wherever they could obtain it. Many of their fans despite their suspicions were happy to live the dream.

According to Twitter Bury have been sold and the most likely buyer is Alistair Campbell's Son.

I saw an interview earlier with that Steve Dale

He said he didn't even know Bury had a football team before he took over
He also said he had never been there and would not have any problems walking away

How on earth are the EFL allowing these people to even get these jobs in the first place

According to the Mail the guys looking at taking over Bury have assets of 180k but debts of 334k

They have said that Tuesday won't be long enough to sort everything out

Sounds like delay tactics and personally I think Bury could be thrown out on Tuesday evening

Dreadful! It shows again that the lower clubs need more help from the Premier League or else they must think of every way of saving money. The North/South split might be raised again?

Is sad that a big team like Bolton could go bust, is it the legacy of trying to compete in the Premier League? All those players on high wages to try and stay up ultimately put them into debt, and sadly now it's all coming back to haunt them. Also seems doubtful that Bury will be able to complete any sale before 5pm tomorrow. Very sad for football
