Like

and I think arena is better when thinking of arena you tend to think of globe shaped places (or is that just me) so can see why they have gone that way.

It's quite catchy as well

Far better than a supermarket name , Nuclear energy stadium etc

Yup, like it. Sounds 'strong' and is bringing in money without sounding like a 'sell out'.

So how did that work out then?

Definately the most relevant and constructive post on this subject to date.

It's not in their interests to have their name and reputation tarnished by anything other than a quality build, both internally and externally.

Never heard of them, but I guess that's why they're sponsoring the ground.

Don't really care who the sponsors are, so long as they come up with the money.

Globe Construction is building the new ground. It clearly speaks volumes of what they think of the club and its potential, given the current close relationship between the two parties.

As far as ground sponsorships go I can think of many worse. In our case: Atkinsons Fish & Chips Arena for example (something I dreaded would happen when the shirt sponsorship used to be in the form of a prize draw, not knocking Atkinsons or their valued support of the club over the years but at the time I didn't think it would have projected the right image for the club).

What is encouraging is that companies outside the resort are now showing interest in sponsoring the team.

Not too bothered about the name, least Globe isn't too bad.

Shrewd move by P.Mc looks like we will just knock the sponsorship off the bill for the new stadium and along with the money from Sainsburys the stadium will pay for itself. result

I LIKE the name, although I think "The Globe Stadium" might have been slightly better.

But the chosen name sounds a lot better than something like "The Asda Stadium" or "The Sainsbury's Stadium" or "The Schweppes Stadium" or whatever. And if the club has done a good financial deal with Globe Construction (money knocked off the price of the new stadium build?), then that is all to the good.

Very good as far as im concerned, as other people have said there are a lot of dodgy stadium names about, The Globe Arena sounds rather grand and gives the impression of a club with big ideas.
