That's hilarious! What an appallingly schoolboy-like error, that misuse of an apostrophe!

(I'm assuming that's why you were mentioning it, seasider?)

There you go again. Quick lesson - you don't need an apostrophe if the 's' is there to make the word plural ie 'carveries' means 'more than one carvery' so no apostrophe.

Apostrophes (see, plural) are there to imply possession ('seasider's bad grammar' - the bad grammar belonging to seasider) and should be placed after the thing (or things) it belongs or pertains to ('the boys' bad grammar' would be bad grammar belonging to more than one boy, hence it comes after the 's' of boys).

Or an apostrophe can indicate a missing letter or two - as in "they don't teach schoolkids about apostrophes these days" (the apostrophe replacing the second 'o' of 'do not').

As a youngster growing up in the 80's I supported Liverpool, and have always had a soft spot for them. However my interest and affection for the team and the fans has waned significantly in the last few years.

I'm from the fens and Peterborough United have always been my most local team so i've followed them, I still try to go to a game whenever I go back to visit the family.

I can never remember whether there should or shouldn't be an apostrophe in "it's" for "it is"? I think I'm right in saying that it's (its) an exception to the rule?

Also, isn't there a different way to use the apostrophe to indicate possession when the name ends in an 's'? "That car belongs to Myleene Klass... it's Myleene Klass's car" is that correct?

Wot, no USA!USA !!USA!!! Major League Soccerball team ? You are welcome to jump on board with the Philadelphia Union. 11,000 season ticket holders in our first year. Pretty knowledgeable (for Yanks) fans, and a manager who is committed to playing entertaining, attacking football. We don't have any of them fancy 'Beckham-Rule' players like Henry, Beckham, Freddie Ljunberg, etcetera, so come and join The Union. :)

My Shrimps shirt has been seen on national TV when we opened our season and I was right behind the goal celebrating our first score. I jumped up and down and pointed at the Morecambe badge.
