Globe Arena - latest pics

Postby Mike W. » Mon Apr 19, 2010 12:19 pm

Pics are now available on the new ground web site taken over the weekend, showing the continuing building of Main stand rooms - ground floor block wall work, first and second floor rooms, work on the pitch continuing (the gravel drainage layer now on with top soil about to be added), lots of trenching work round the site for pipes, and work continuing on the site roadways.

I'm feeling a lot better now....

Had a look down this lunch time and there was a convoy of trucks delivering a mixture of sand and soil for the pitch. :) :) :)

Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

Am stocking up on water bottles / watering cans in readiness....

The more I see of the new Car Wash (pics 30,31and 33) the more I wish there was someway that we could have made use of the terracing from the existing North Stand and created an uncovered side like they have at Southport, but I appreciate that the funds would not allow. :(

I'm just glad it's down the side of the pitch and not behind the goal like at Southport - It would cost us a fortune in lost balls over the railway line and far away!
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Are globe confident it will ALL be done in time? From a sponsership point of view I'm hoping it can be showcased with all its bells from the start.

Been down to the Arena recently?

It's amazing how much work has been done in a relatively short period of time.

It's still April and just under 3 months to 'hand over'.

Do you honestly think that Globe will allow that date to be put in doubt when they are putting their name and reputation on the line by putting their name on the Stadium?

Commercially it would be a black mark against them, especially as the Arena will be used to show case their portfolio of expertise for the future.

I'm also sure that the quality of the build will surpass all our expectations.

:D :D :D

Just wondering what access you have to the arena if you wanted to have a look. Can you get on site or do you have to view from the roadside?

Roadside or from the adjacent housing estate which gives you a view from the rear of the away stand.

And..shhhh..if you can sneak into the Presabytery area adjacent to the ground and peer over the wall you should be able to get an excellent view of the ground looking inwards towards the Community Block.

Never been there myself of course... ;)

I don't know. That's why I asked the question.

Been down to the Arena recently?

No. I can see the ground from the weekly update, thanks
The ground is making good progress, but 3 months is not a long time.
