I Never Knew That

I Never Knew That

Number 37 in a series of lesser known facts.

In 1898, when Portsmouth FC were in their infancy, they were known as The Shrimps.

Just been on Sky Sports News as their Chief Operating Officer was explaining their shirt for tomorrows FA Cup Final. They're in a white shirt with salmon pink on which harks back to when they were known as The Shrimps...

I never knew that!

Funny enough Sean I did!.
1 of my dancers grandpa,s is from Southsea, and he and I were talking about football.
He told me Portsmouth were called the Shrimps when they first started.
I'd absolutely forgotten that until you mentioned it 8-)

..... and who was the goalie for their amateur forerunners, Portsmouth Athletic?
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

Probably Alan Knight, 801 league games between the sticks.
Now with Aldershot, so won't be at Wembley to cheer on Pompey tomorrow.
