Old songs for Saturday

Old songs for Saturday

Postby Wild Bill » Sun May 02, 2010 7:01 pm

Having watched Morecambe for 18 years now I have heard a fair few songs come and go. Wouldn't it be a great idea if we can get a few suggestions of some of the old favourites on here, (excluding ones linked to players) so we can sing them one more time at the ol' Pie?

I will start the ball rolling with the simple, but effective: 'COME ON MORECAMBE, COME ON MORECAME, COME ON MORECAMBE!!! (sang quickly and repetitively! :D )

She wore a scarlet ribbon (I know it's a Man Utd song but what isn't): I'd get it going myself but I'm far too shy.

RedRedWine: "She wore a scarlet ribbon (I know it's a Man Utd song but what isn't): I'd get it going myself but I'm far too shy."

...and Arsenal - I'll pass on that one thanks.

It'll be end to end Dale Cavese again lads with a few others just for a rest. Sounded great on Saturday.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

The one I always think of is:
"Morecambe, you are my Morecambe,
You make me happy when skies are grey,
You'll never know just how much I love you,
Please don't take my Morecambe away."

Surely that has to be in somewhere......

Borrowed from Cov City, sung to the Eton boating song tune,

Lets all sing together,
Play up the Shrimps,
While we sing together,
We will never lose,
Bradford or Grimsby,
Accy or anyone, ANYONE!
We shall defeat them,
We'll fight till the game is won.
The Morecambe, The Morecambe.

Not a football song by any means, but one that gets to the point of what is happening to M.F.C. "Out with the old and in with the new". A couple of rounds of "Auld lang syne" would get every body involved and some shedding a tear.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And auld lang syne?
Or maybe I am felling a bit soppy this morning :?
