Two sides with two of the best strike partnerships in the division. There's was on the pitch, ours was out injured and that, ladies and gents, was it in a nutshell.
We attacked from the off - definitely not going for the draw - and had chances before they got into it.
Balance of play swung one way and then the other, no big difference between the teams but O'Grady and Dagnall always looked dangerous whereas Twissy (Aaron later) and Wayne didn't cause as much problem.
That meant we had to play a bit deeper to cover the threat, whereas they could push a few yards further up. But it was still a pretty even game until half time, even with them 2-0 up.
Had we got it back to 2-1 I still think we'd have got something out of the game - we were playing well.
After the break we HAD to throw caution to the wind, we got a couple of chances but the cutting edge wasn't quite there and, as has been said, the ball didn't quite fall for us a couple of times in the box.
Then we left gaps at the back (no problem with that, we had to) and they struck us on a couple of breaks.
They're a very good side, the best I've seen this season in both our games against them but, with Jevons and Mullin starting, we'd have given them a real game I'm sure of it.
As it was, a very committed display from us, lacked the cutting edge but not much else. Not disappointed by the performance at all but now a bit worried about the depleted squad.
Having said that we are now back to square one and it's time for a few others to step up to the mark and show what they can do.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!
