Need to Win Four of Next Five... Can We?

Need to Win Four of Next Five... Can We?

Postby Keith » Sat Mar 22, 2025 5:36 pm

Swindon, Cheltenham, Grimsby, Carlisle, Bromley.

Beat Swindon, Cheltenham, Carlisle & Bromley???

Obviously we could, but, we won't. So, we will be relegated.

The only way we can stay up now is if Reading are thrown out of the EFL. And even then, we need to stay above Carlisle.

April 5th we play Grimsby... ...and Reading face their deadline. It could be a big day in our future. I'd hate to wish another club in an even bigger mess than us, but grasping straws, it's our most realistic chance of staying up.

as soon as relegation is confirmed, hopefully the BoD can step aside and force Jason’s hand.

Nope. Our poor transfer window sealed the deal. Jason really screwed it up for Derek by causing the transfer embargo and leaving Derek no time (and little money) to bring in anyone capable in the last few days of the window. Slow hand clap for Jason!!

There was still a glimmer of hope, but not now that Burgoyne (our third choice keeper) has to start. Moore isn't going to be fit before the end of the season and Schofield didn't even make the bench today, so it looks like we're stuck with a keeper who can't actually catch a ball. Not good! Our outfield players have to protect the keeper which is stopping them getting forward and taking risks.

Slow handclap???? If I could think of a way of 'bringing him down' I'd do it. After what he's done to our beloved club I expect everyone feels the same (and Worcester Warriors supporters as well).

Next season is our actual best chance of a bounceback with getting the parachute payment, although I'm not too sure that will go on the playing budget

Do you seriously think he would do that.... :?: :?: :?:

Why would he when he's making serious money out of his ownership.

IF our BoDs step aside then that would be absolutely disastrous...and I just can't contemplate them leaving the club that they give their hearts and souls to....every single day.... :o

If they do as you suggest then....

Swindon next week will be a very very tough game as well
They have lost just 1 in last 10

If Tranmere win against Cheltenham on Friday night we will be 10 points adrift as well

We have been waiting all season to string a set of results together. It's almost last chance saloon now, so we may just go for it in the next few games and give us some hope. Of course it might now happen, but let's just take each game as a cup final and throw everything at it. Only two teams have anything to play for so let's just hit them with some real intensity. UTS

It was more my second point than the first. I hate that our survival appears to depend upon another club having an even worse owner than our twat, but that's the reality.

Since January the first I thought 10 wins (giving a points total of 47), which would given us a very good chance of us to stay in League two. Since then we have won 4 and drawn 1 out of 14 games, so we are a bit short of games left to hit that 10 win target. We also need Tranmere to now have a bad run, it is a really steep uphill task now, it’s not over, but I just don’t see us getting over the 44 points that I think will be enough for survival.
I’ll keep turning up and hope for a complete turn around in fortune. :) :)

It really is a big ask to predict how we finish the rest of the season, the next 2 games are critical must wins, plus we need Tranmere to trip up.
If this really is the end of our football league experience, then I do hope we do go down fighting. Being realistic though and hoping others fail has been how this season has panned out.
We must keep believing we have a chance of staying up.
