If only we had a striker

If only we had a striker

Throughout this season we have played decent football but struggled to score goals. In quite a number of games, we have been the better side but failed to score and the opposition have had one chance and taken it. We have tried to bolster the attack signing Dackers, Dallas, Garner, Hope and Angol. Unfortunately, none of these players is a prolific goalscorer. Indeed some of them have offered very little. Dackers shows spirit and industry but doesn't look a natural finisher. If we'd had a 20 goal a season striker we would now be in a comfortable mid-table position. It's a sad story and are we about to slide down the football pyramid and join the likes of Oldham and Rochdale?

Stocton or Mellon and as you say we would have been comfortably mid to top half of table. Sadly lack of investment will cost us our league position.

I think we all know where the problem area is and for me it's no thanks at all to the current owners unwillingness to sell our club at a reasonable price.

Thanks for nowt Jason......

It does all stem from the owners reluctance to properly fund the club. I think also when we went up to League one the admission prices should have been raised, I know many think it would have been stupid but £25 pounds could have added £75K+ to our players budget. (Say season ticket prices up £25 = 5 pints!!)
We have then had 900 days of what could be seen as decline all on the back of lack of funding. If we cannot compete in paying the higher wages better players are asking for, its a season struggle after struggke.
Yes we know how weak we are at converting our chances, everybody else does too, we are down to 13 games to get that converted 22nd place or higher and we won’t do it without constantly scoring goals. If we do that after watching Morecambe this season it will be a great achievement, you can see how competitive we are so fix that problem and we could be OK.
So yes thanks for nothing Jason.
